I got some HID Fog Lights, almost the same size as the stock Marshals. However I'm having an issue mounting.

If I could "SAFELY" bend the tabs on the new fogs, then I could mount these guys completely in the stock location and use the stock screw for adjustment. However I'm not sure these are made that sturdy. I tried to bend with a pair of flat plyers and heard a crack, dunno if it was the aluminum case/bracket breaking apart. But I stopped right away. The Mounts for the new fogs are thick steel so I'm just wondering if anyone has done this?

It looks like you could get 2 "L" brackets and bolt them to the existing mounts on the new lights. Then your mounting tabs would be facing the correct way. If you buy some larger "L" brackets cut them down & drill new holes, they would be made out of a thicker material than the smaller ones. Good luck.

I made a bracket in the shape of the stock bracket that bolts to the bumper frame. Didn't work. Looks like my best bet is to take the bumper off and mount it onto the bumper directly, Exactly what I didn't wanna do. Unless having the bumper off will help me make a mount.

That would work only if I had a way to cut slits for the original brackets off the new fogs to slide into. Its like mating a square with a triangle. I used to have that ability, but that tool was stolen from me during my move a couple months back.

You're going to have to take another swing at phrasing that. How would those Ls not work?

Ok. Trying to figure out how I can phrase this... The stock mount is in the shape of a V... These new fogs completely are in the shape of a Square. The two tips of the V are where the bolts are. The L's would not work unless I cut slits in the stock mount, for the new brackets to fit inside so the fog light could sit flush. If I flipped the L brackets around, it would mount, sure, but make the fog lights stick like 3" out of the bumper! And I say... HELL NO to that.

The easiest way to mount, was this way... It was easy, it made the fog lights sit higher than stock, but it isn't to bad.

Yeah, I was thinkin about that... But in all honesty, it looks great for a stock replacement huh... And these lights are nice. They have a pretty good cutoff for a non projector. I haven't had a chance to properly adjust them, but so far they aren't off to bad and wow do they light up the ground!

Ah, this brings back memories, I went through this same scenario with some aftermarket fog lights. The ones I bought were even smaller than that and were oval, never was satisfied with the way they looked (too much gap between the foglight and the bumper).

One day I stumbled upon a 2G Talon in my local junk yard and it had really nice condition stock foglights on it. I took those off and put them on my 1G (had to do some bracket fabrication work of course) they wound up fitting nicely and look great.

Those look good InfiniteGSX, nice job :thumb:

very nice install looks great. Where did you find those lights?

LOL. 20 bucks for the fogs at VatoZone, and 30 for the HID's used from a friend. But a total cost if you bought new would be around 60-100 bucks. I chose the fogs cause they were the closest to stock I could find.

I would have used my stock fogs, but the insides are melted. Bad! And since I got the new headlights, I wanted something to match for the fog lights.

Yeah but I wouldn't have gotten the amazing light with the stock housings, even if mint. They used reflective paint which didn't get much distance.

If I could find a set of 100% mint ones, I could take the plastic glass out to be polished and send off the housings to be chromed, to get more reflection out of them. And then I'd also have to get the strange style HID's. Since 1gb talons don't take H3 bulbs like the 90-91's do. I'm not sure about the Eclipse fogs, But I know 1ga Talon's have H3 fogs, and 1gb talons have this strange bulb.

Now that you mention it the 1gb fogs are different..How much different I cannot tell you at this moment, cause my other car is out of town..Isn't the reflective part behind the glass chromed anyway.??.It could be just reflective paint, but either way looks the part..I'm also not sure the bulb the eclipses use at this moment..I have it all written down sumwhere but can't remember off top of my head..

I feel like such a newb asking this but what does the 'B' stand for in 1GB or 2GB?

Theres two different front ends on both 1st gen and 2nd gen dsms..Both talon and eclipse... look at the front bumper of a 1g with popups and our body style the talons had diff front bumper and wing plus the 2 tone, and the sweet rear bumper........2g it's the diff headlights the whale wing, and the front bumper is better on both the 2g talon and eclipse..the rear bumper is diff looking to..

Idk what the b means btw..

There are two "Generations" in each "Generation" of a DSM. 90-91 DSMs are 1G'A', 92-94 are 1G'B', 95-96 are 2G'A', and 97-99 are 2G'B'.

Its like, ABCDEFG ect... Its saying 1st Generation 1st Section or 2nd Section.

Every car goes through it. The A class's of each generation are usually a time to find the bugs of the vehicle.

Does that make any Sense?

And as for the fogs. The stock 1gb talon fogs do not have chromed backing for the reflection. Its a silver coating. Like the reflective silver. Also 1GB Talons are the only DSM's to carry a aftermarket fog light stock. Rare to! Marchals on on a few other cars, such as Ford ThunderBird TCoupes and Merkur's.

Although they have the Marchal catface on the lenses, they were made after Valeo had taken over the firm, and don't say Marchal on them at all. They're still good lights.

Yeah they say Valeo on the bottom of the lens. LOL I tried looking up a wiki about Marchal or something and couldn't find crap!
