So, i took BoostedinSoFla's idea and painted my carpet. Was pretty simple. Just took out the carpet, did a good vacuum and brushed out any heavy stains. Then went to town. Only thing i did differently, was painted it black instead of grey. I found during the painting, its a must to do it in layers. I did it in the garage and sprayed at a 45 degree angle and a good 12-16 inches away and let it "lay" on the carpet.

I followed a back and forth pattern from one side of the carpet, of just the one side and did a good 4-5 coats going over the carpet. Some areas took more than others. But, its black now thats for sure. And looks very very good for being a 12 year old carpet. I would like to get some eclipse floormats to go with it. Maybe down the road. While i did that, i cleaned up all the panels and cleaned up the floorboards.

What a world of difference it makes looking at clean black carpet rather than ugly stained grey carpet. The paint i used was from Advanced auto, and was the Duplicolor Vynl and Fabric paint which says its good for carpet and other fabrics. It does make the carpet "hard" but it needs to be broken in. Will take pictures tomorrow. Hopefully the color stays and doesnt fade or deteriorate.

Tell me what you think or if you ever had this idea but weren't daring enough to do it. One thing i should recommend...WEAR A GASMASK OR SOMETHING! :ohdamn: I didnt and i still have a headache.

Yea, its dark out, and pics wont do much for anyone at this time. When i wake up, I will shoot some.

I was planning on doing this this weekend, but as mentioned above, my only concern was if it would rub off or not. Is painting it the only way to do it or is there some kind of dye or something you can get to do it?

How long did it take to rub off? It seemed pretty deep into the threads and looks pretty good. Guess we will see. I used the same stuff BoostedinSoFla used, and his turned out good and lasted. I suppose you could dye it, but then it would take a while to dry, and not sure where you would get dye for it?

I was thinking of getting a new carpet as well. I got a giant oil stain on the passenger side from the spill. I'm also curious how well spray paint will hold.

Haha Trent. You dont even have carpet do you. LOL. I will take a picture now.

Not sure why a brown spot came up in the photo. There isnt any in real life.

It took a few months to rub off in the high wear areas. But again, I did it on floor mats. You done it to your carpet...as long as you keep it covered up with floor mats, it shouldnt be a problem, Since all the wear recieved wont be on the carpet itself but on the mats.

Of course. You did a good writeup. I plan on buying floormats soon. I like the 2g black floormats. Gotta find some.

It will fade. I used the paint adhesive promotor thats used usually for bumpers. That worked great.

It took two, but I would buy three to go over it once more. I would vacuum the carpet after it dries and repaint again.

I did mine as well a couple years ago. Haven't really driven the car much at all but floor mats on top of the carpet keep it from wearing. Also when you are spraying it helps to push up from the bottom to expose more gray. Here's a few pictures of mine.

Squeak, that looks really good. Did you use duplicolor vinyl and fabric too? Approximately how many bottles did you go through?

looks good. I've been wanting to do the same as my carpet looks like crap. That stuff works nice on the interior trim too. I've tested a few pieces and compared to the OEM black and it matches perfectly. I've also sprayed my hatch cover black and no reason for that to wear so it looks good after a couple years

Thanks. Yup used the dupli color stuff vinyl and fabric from advance auto. If I remember right I used two cans. After I got the carpet back in the car I had to touch up a few areas where it would mold to the body a little better than when it was out of the car. Not a big deal or anything.

I wanted to follow up and see how well the dyed carpet it holding up anyone having issues with it fading send me a pm or something if you have any advice because i bought carpet online an hate it. The fitment is terrble.

My car decided to leak water all over the interior carpet... So I tore it all out, cleaned it, and painted it. Heres how it came out, what do you guys think?
