Which Remote Start/Alarm System??

ok i've searched around and really didn't find the answer so i figured i'd ask. i know i'll get a bunch of different opinions and thats really what i want
First of all i quoted a local shop at $280 installed (haven't heard really anything good about them so i dont really wanna have them do it) they didn't tell me brand
but what are your guys opinions on the best starter/alarm systems?
i want a mile range for the starter... your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I work at Best Buy installing these, I have seen shoddy installs, and amazing installs. It's really a person to person basis. Get it installed there as we are all over the country and if there is ever a problem, you can take it into Best Buy and they will look at it for free. Good labor warranties. Don't go to a local shop because if you have a problem a few years down the road, they might not be there anymore and now you have to pay again for a new install.

I would go with the Viper 5900, alarm, remote start, and keyless entry. 2 way remote, and 1 mile range. DEI owns just about everything these days having to do with car security, so it's pretty much all the same.

I've installed 2 ebay alarms, one one my DSM and another on a different vehicle.

One of them had remote start.

They both work great.. if you know what you are doing they install fine. But be prepared to have a vague manual. If you are on a budget I can tell you FROM EXPERIENCE the ebay alarms work fine, but it will lack some little features you might need and instructions are vague and customer service is nonexistent.

i dont really have a problem installin it myself i could probably just do it in class i'm just wonderin what kind i should get, i know i want an alarm, keyless entry (mine to took a crap) and a starter of course..

Once again, I suggest Viper. They have been around forever and DEI has just taken over damn near the entire market. The new Responder LE remotes (2 way) will respond and tell you how much time is left on the remote start, will tell you the temperature inside the vehicle, and have tons of auxillary options.

Bang for the buck, it's tough to beat the quality of a Compustar system. Plenty of features, including built in turbo timer, pager, and more. You can add programmable solenoids for anything from trunk poppers to window/sunroof switches, the list goes on and on.

The hard thing is finding a reputable installer licenced for Compustar (unless you are up to the task of installing it yourself).

A lot of people I know in the car audio/electronics industry (i.e. installers) preferred the Compustar over just about all of the big name units, including Viper. It's definitely worth looking into.
