I am finally getting ready to start my project on a 2g eclipse, and I am trying to line up my parts for exterior/interior, so i will know where to get them, and about how much there gonna cost, but I cant find those roof scoops that I have seen on so many show 2g's.

It sounds like yer interested on swapping the 420a for a 4g63t, is this right? How is that coming? You know, you don't need to tell yer agent that the car is now a turbo, just do it and enjoy the HP and low rates. On the scoop, why? Will you make it functional?

Im guessing its probably for show...but hey, I think it looks bad ass dude. Rice is in the eye of the beholder...In fact of thinking of doing that, but I have no clue. I saw a Carbon Fiber one at visracing.com as part of the blitz kit. Later dude, keep me updated on whats happening with your car....might use your car as my model :D

Ofcourse it would be show, do you really think it would be possible to make a functional roof scoop for an Eclipse??

Actually, no, I can't see a purpose for a roof scoop, but maybe he does... I am open to new ideas...:dsm:

uhh, why would anyone want to make it functional? a cooler, wetter interior? anyone want to elaborate?

im sure if u get a quality scoop it wouldnt allow water inside when closed or whatever... and the reason behind scoops is to get air in cars (race cars) with no A/C.

ive heard of one being installed with the roof under it cut out, then a butterfly plate installed that was electronically controlled

when it was off it blocked all the air from entering the car, but when it was open air would flow through and cool your interior down

And just how does that help performance-wise?

i havnt been here long and im already really gettin sick of some people acting like the only thing u should put on a car is something performance. most of the stuff i do is performance but theres so much cool #### to do to these cars that looks tight. Maybe u wanna feel like a big bad racer hardass by callin everything and everyone rice but to come into a non performance section n act like jeff gordon is just ###. especially w/ a N/T. Hell i have a N/T and i know that my car can only be so fast w/o serious $ invested so i want it to look nice two

I think a functional roof scoop would be pretty cool. Because in my Convertible RX-7, my air conditioner went out, so I'd open the top just a little (about 1") and it would catch the air like a scoop, works much better than cracking the window. Plus I live in TX, so ugh on the heat here. It sounds a little stupid, but hey, to each his own right? Anyways, with all the heat under the hood of my eclipse, my air conditioners dead now (fan's melted to hell), and if it's feasible I might do a functional roof scoop, for looks, and get a little bonus out of it for the summers here.

everyone who is #####ing about PERFORMANCE in the NON-PERFORMANCE section should be kicked in the nuts!!! Just my opinion...if you dont like it...get the f*ck out!!

well i have been given lots of s**t for my roof scoop from several members on this board..but in the end.. if its looks your going for.. then go for it.. I purchased my scoop from http://www.wholesalehyperformance.com.. now eventhough i love their prices.. what they offer..etc.. the scoop i bought from them was a piece of s**t.. it was so thin you could see through it.. so i ended up having to reenforce it with stronger materials before it was even glassed to the car..

as far as function. .mine does not serve one.. but i was told by the builder of my car that it could infact serve a purpose and we even mapped it out on how to do it.. .. but after looking at the complication of doing so.. and the price it would cost.. .. i just opted to go with the scoop for no other reason then looks..

good luck on yr scoop.. post pix when its done.. would love to see =)
