are 130 watt headlights bulbs too powerful? the box says 100W and then says actual 130W actual, so im confused.

some times bulbs are rated at a watt for the real power consumption as well as a watt equivalency for the purpose of light output... im guessing the bulbs will use 100 watts of power but be as bright as a theoretical 130 watt bulb

There's a lot of hooey going on these days with bulb wattage claims. After getting Carello housings and real 100W H-4 bulbs on my 510 sometime last century, and taking a pal out to show them off (reviewer's comment:"HOLY S***" when the hi beams came on), I will strongly state the modern numbers are lies. Just hold the "high" watt bulb next to the stock 65W hi beam and look at the filaments: you'll usually find the blue things are smaller. Sadly, size _does_ count, and like other popular enlarger schemes found all over the web, they just don't give results. Stick with the higher-rated Sylvanias off the rack at your favorite chain store, I've found they give more light.

So if you had to choose one which would it be? Sylvania Silver Star or Sylvania Xtra Vision. I can't decide which to get, and would like some opinions on which ones better/brighter. The Xtra Visions run $10 each where as the Silver stars run $20 each.

I'd doubt there's ten bucks difference.... then again, that twenty won't last long at the Indian Casino anyway. Flip a coin, you'll decide when it's in the air. My personal preference is to take the one with the least (or no) blue tint.

They are both white. The silver stars are rated at 4000 illuminets or what ever, and the Xtra visions are 30% brighter than convetional halogens.

BTW, what Indian Casino:confused:

any watt hoey on the matix show bulbs, the ones that are yellow and "100W" im thinking of getting those and some one said the wer bright as all get out

Well, the one at Jackson's too close for me, but it's kinda tight, too. Might as well finish the trip and go to the "real" casinos at South Shore. And from there, it's only another thirty to Reno, and the Nugget has that terrific buffet and..... hey, where's my house?
I'd like to see those Sylvanias working side-by-side in real life before I'd believe that 30% brighter stuff. And does that mean 130% of the originals, or 1/3 brighter total? Above all, remember Rule # 1 of Driving Too Fast: don't drive where you can't see.
Oh, and check the prices at Wal*Mart and Target, too.

Wal-Mart & Target don't carry the silver star and I know that Wal-mart doesn't carry the 9006 bulbs in anything but oem replacement. It's really screwed up around here.

The one I'm going to spend your paycheck at!
Red P5, got to catch me first! :p

Yeh, but it's nice an flat, so when you drop parts while working under the hood, they don't roll twenty feet.:D
