LED # for gauge cluster?

I was wondering if anybody knows what LED bulb number is for the bulbs in the gauge cluster? I don't have the skill to solder LEDs myself, and would rather just replace the stock gauge bulbs with LEDs. I was planning to buy the LEDs off SuperBrightLEDs.com because they have instrument LEDs, but they have different sizes.

I did some research and found that it might be LED # 74s, but I just wanted to make sure, especially if any of you have personally done it.

For the bulbs inside of the cluster, you should be using wedge style 194 bulbs. The size 74bulbs are the smaller ones needed for your HVAC controls.

It can get rather expensive in buying the "pre soldered with resistors" wedge style bulbs from a vender, that's why most people opt to solder the resistors in themselves. Just be sure to look at the specs for the wedge bulbs to measure for size and depth. I started replacing all of them a while ago and abandoned the project for a while to get other things done.

There are no wedge bulbs in the cluster. 74 is the proper size.
2g Gauge Cluster Diagram, where is it?

The WEDGE BASE LED's are the best!!! They are the brightest and provide the most light with hardly any hot spots. I will send ya a pic if you would like one.

Aahhh, I didn't look to see that he's a 2g. The 1gs use the wedge bulbs.

I have also been interested in this. I took a look at the OP's website and found "74-xHP Wedge Base LED Bulb" (6 LEDs for the guages only) for $15. They would be a direct replacement for our stock bulbs right, just swap them out?

And rather than the dull yellowish amber of the stock guages, do you think the high-power 74 LEDs in amber or red would makes the guages brighter and more vivid amber/orange/red colored (without sanding the backs of the guage faces)?

The bulb size is #74. Be prepared to get you dremel and file off some plastic where the led bulbs will go in. The led bulbs (I bought them from superbrightleds.com) are longer than stock ones and won't fit unless you sand off some plastic in the cluster. I have red led bulbs with reverse blue face gauges on my car and I love them. If you just plan on changing the led bulbs, you'll have some hot spots.

The first pic shows you the hotspots I'm talking about. The second pic is what I have on my car .

What is a prnd12? The cig lighter and cup holder in the center console (and HVAC) all take # 74 bulbs.

Dee is there any way to avoid those hot spots? Thanks for the pictures up there, by any chance do you know if that is with the red LEDs with the amber film still on the backs of the gauges, or had that film been scraped off? And like I said is there a way to avoid the hot spots?

Yes, those red leds are with the amber film on the back of stock gauges and the film hasn't been scraped off. The hot spots look worse in the picture but the only way to avoid the hot spots would be to scrape the film off of the back of the gauges.

It's possible to remove them, but I've broke more than I've gotten out whole.

i looked through that website and i have to say i am more confused than when i started.
Which bulbs are do we need. i know they are 74 but i click on order 74 and 174 more options come up none of which say the number "74"
i want to do an led conversion and scrape the back of the gauges so i can use the amber ones and get a true amber color. or should i just use the amber ones and keep the backing?
any help would be great . thanks
