Momo shift knob and boot

I feel really stupid asking this but I am stuck. I just bought a new momo shift knob and shift boot, the problem is the boot is supposed to screw on to the knob, unfortunately the knob has to be allen keyed to the shift bar. If I allen key it to the shift bar then it wont spin to attach to the boot, if I attach it to the boot first then the allen holes are covered up and I can tighten the knob down. I hope this is making sense, anyone out their who has a momo boot and knob you probably know what I mean, any suggestions?

basically you have to install your knob and boot together onto the shifter. take the shift boot bracket off the console and install it on the boot and knob. Then lower your console back over the shifter and screw the bracket back onto the underside of the console.
