1g in dash navi

anybody have any kind of navi in their 1g that sits where the stock radio sits? i was thinking about putting an avic-d3 in their and using it for logging/tuning

I havn't personally seen any in a 1g, but, an indash is an indash. If you have the space for a cd player, and long as you got ~7 inches of clearence for the screen to pop up, or have space for a double din touch panel, you are good to go.

I don't understand why it wouldn't work.

I've not run across any double-DIN unit that won't fit in a DSM. You'll probably want to look for an adjustable screen in a 1G because they sit a little lower. Remember to check for shifter clearance.
If you're looking for GPS, TigerDirect.com - Computers, Computer Parts, Computer Accessories, PC Components, & Electronics has some killer deals on reman Tom Tom One, which are unix-based and can be messed with. You can also use them on foot, unlike a unit mounted inside a car. But they do lack the dashboard-cool factor. And thieves really like the car screens.

It's true about the TOM TOM stuff. But he said in the OP that he want's to use it for logging/tuning purposes as well. But to the OP, as said just a flip out would work. Just as long as you have room between the dash and shift. Or you could just do a custom dash for one...
