Ok, I have a question and all input is welcomed. I have a white eclipse rs 98 and I have been wanting a carbon fiber hood forever, does anyone think it will still look good with a carbon fiber hood? I know black cars do and silver does and red does, but white and black are two exact opposite colors. I know it is lighter and will help with speed, but I like it to look really good and clean in the process. I have a big black sunstrip on the front of my car with black stickers on the side and a black mitsu emblem on the front that would help it to blend, but I just dont see too many 2g Dsm's in the gallery to really know here or there. I will post a link of my car at the bottom and just let me know what you think. Thanks!!!:thumb:

I would keep the stock hood, this carbon fiber fad is really begining to get worn out. Pretty soon pep boys will be selling these things

yeah, I love how nice my car seems to just flow from front to back, and it just sucks because all of the other colors are badass with a carbon fiber hood, but unfortunately I got a white one. You have my dream color, I think the best color of the 2g dsm's.

Survey says.......

Carbon Fiber. You think you got it worst cuz your white? A CF hood would look best on your car and stick out the best. That and some style of black rim (polished/machined lip would be even pimper). Alot of people forget CF hood actually serve a purpose as well, but might as well show off that purpose. Ive always been down with CF hoods. I dont care if they are the "next Altezzas" or whatever, CF hood will always get my vote :thumb:

In my opinion i think a carbon fiber hood would look mint.. i like how there would be a conflict with the 2 colors.. if u had some more black accents on the exterior or even in the interior it would like 2wice as nice!! i think u should go for it man.. but if u wanna save some cash.. stick with the stock hood.. they are pretty mint too..

I think the black carbon fiber hood would look great on the white car. I would say that it depends on what you are going for with the car though. Carbon fiber is nice, but if you get a crappy company, it will crack easily. Since the car's a N/T, I assume your not going to get into big time racing with it so weight reduction is not an issue. If you're just going for some show, have you ever though about a clear hood that's tinted. One of my buddies got one for his white 2g and it looks white till you get within 3 feet and then it turns clear. It's kinda cool b/c it looks like the hood disappears. It was about the same price as a CF too.

Yeah I will be getting a Hahn Stage II around May, so weight reduction is a issue, but like I said at the same time I still want it to look good. I always get mixed answers on how a carbon fiber hood would look on a white car so I thought i would ask some true dsm'ers. If I did get one I would get vis definately. Thanks for all of the help, I am leaning towards the cf hood.:thumb:

My car is in the shop getting the following done now...

Getting the blitz kit put on and getting a carbon fiber hood and going to paint the body lines (VIS invader hood). The best thing that I can think of doing with an OEM style CF hood is to paint the entire thing white except a nice size DSM logo left carbon fiber.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, My Game,

Engine: Cold air intake, OBX Exhaust, Underdrive Pulley, Short Shifter, NGK Iridium Plugs, Sparcko Wires
Suspension: Dropzone Suspension Coilovers, Vortex front and rear strut bars
Wishlist: Hahn Stage II Turbo

Why are you dropping weight on yer N/A FWD? The Hahn Stage 2 is a way better mod, and would be a noticeable gain in performance. I agree that a light car is cool, but you need more than 135 horses to feel it. Of course, you may be fearful of the many tickets a turbo would earn...

If you like the way it looks thats all that matters. Don't let others opinions dictate the contruction of your custom DSM. If you want to lose weight get the hood and paint it. The paint will add more weight, but still better then stock. I think carbon fiber on white looks great, but feel that carbon fiber on black looks like ####. Thats my opinion, which shouldn't mean #### to you LOL.

Well as you can see nutshot I am getting Hahn in May, so it would be a somewhat of a difference or people would not be getting them and saying they are for weight reduction. I like for my car to look good also. That is why I did not get a 1g because a 2g (in my opinion) looks better and you can make it fast. It is nice to go out in something the girls will go crazy for and then at the same time (after turbo) smoke the guys that think they are in a muscle car with a lot of power. Do you see what I am saying??

I think I understand what yer saying, but I can't agree. First, the hood will cost you money, which delays the purchase of the Hahn further. Second, and this is a big one, I have yet to meet a girl that can identify two similar cars when they are painted different colors, so trying to impress a girl with yer ride won't work unless it's clean (I had a girl ask if my 91 Eclipse was a 98, it was very clean at the time). IMHO a carbon hood on your particular application, while unique, is not beneficial to yer car. I have driven 2g GS's and was not impressed. I want you to feel the same way I do when driving, so get a turbo and stop pretending to be fast. Or make yer car pretty and believe that girl's care/know. Either way, I don't care if you like me or not, just trust that I am not trying to put you or anyone else down.

I bought a fiberglass predator hood because fiberglass and carbon fiber weigh about the same. I dont like carbon fiber, cause the rice boys at my school end up painting their hoods black and claim it is carbon fiber. I like the predator hood because it looks different and weighs the same as carbon fiber.

If they are painting thier hoods black and claiming its CF, then they are idiots. CF isn't black, it's close, but you can tell that it's CF on a black car. Just looks blacker on other colors.

I am thinking I am going to order a carbon fiber hood. The poll seems to like the look and mod, and I consider you all better judges of dsm's than anyone else!!!:thumb:
