I was wondering if anybody had ever bought a prepainted front bumper cover on ebay. If so how well did it match? The paint on my car is pretty good but im still kinda skeptical. I was going to paint the whole car but have decided to just get the bumper fixed and buy a gsx when i pay the car off next year so this seemed like a good deal. anybody who has any insight on this I would appreciate it. I have searched and cant find anything about ebay bumpers that came painted.

here is what im looking at

eBay Motors: NEW PAINTED FRONT BUMPER COVER 97-99 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE (item 250238822582 end time Apr-26-08 13:33:21 PDT)

If you're selling it, I would definitely go for it. I can't imagine it being worse then the bumper you currently have (I'm assuming since you're thinking about getting a new, painted bumper that your current one is a mess).

Wow so much money for just a front bumper. I bought an ebay bumper off ebay for $50 and it fits snug good and looks oem. Why waste so much ? Look at my pics, looks like oem at less than half the cost of what you're lookin at. SEARCH

yeah the current one is pretty busted up and i just didnt wanna run around with a horribly miss matched bumper...to me its almost as bad as having it just primered

yeah i have seen them for alot cheaper but this on comes painted the oem color...or so it says...thats what i am really worried about...i mean a shade off is ok...but a completely different white would suck

yeah it is still stock and has been kept up pretty well...i mean it is 10 year old paint but im hoping it will be close enough...i think im gonna get one of these with my tax incentive next month....tired of rocking the busted up front bumper...making a well taken care of car look like crap :(

So we send them the paint code when we make a purchase and they just paint it?
They do say they use a clear. Primer though? Will it last? Is a rattle can of paint and a rattle can of clear going to give you the same effect?

Just curious about how good these things look when they arrive. Mine just needs a paint job, but the bodyshop in town wants some astronomical figure over $400.

i have one off them ebay bumpers that i got for 70 dollers from my friend that owns a car dealer, i took the bumper and my car to the local painter they cooler matched it, payd another 100 for paint, and it brings me to 170$.

better then 200+ what your looking at then shipping then its still 50/50 chance its a cooler match or not.

just my 2.

by the way ebay bumpers fit just as good as oem and defenatly lighter then oem.

Thank you...i could have saved this whole thread if that would have come up in the search...I searched 4 different sets of key words an that thread never came up..But that definetally decides for me... no pre painted ebay bumper for me...Now i just need to buy one and find someone to paint it...I have never had to deal with getting a car painted before...what would be a reasonable price for something like that..I dont need a million coats of clear making it look like glass or anything..I would just like it repainted to look stock..what would be yalls best estimates on the bumper and then maybe the whole car..I need to cover up my fugly RS unpainted door handles and mirrors tooLOL

Thanks for the thread link that probably just saved me alot of cussing

I think you should just put that money your going to spend on the one you already
have, a simple fix an a matching coat of paint and call it a day

just like i stated befor get yourself a ebay bumper for around 70$ and get it painted to match your car it.
when you get the ebay bumper most off the time its primed ready for paint but ether way it showldn't be more then 100$

keeps us posted on what you do and how the bumper comes out.

painting isnt really all that hard anyway, have a friend help out. I know at Oreillys and Advance, they sell premixed acryllic enamel in pints for $20. get a primer, clear and white for $65.

Here's mine. no stupid triangle in the center. Got it painted by a friend.
