They make special tools to do it, Just go to sears and talk to somebody im sure they have it.

Here you go, SG Tool Aid 87900 Windshield Removal Tool - SGT87900 You pull the rubber trim off,Then stick the blade under the edge and pull it all the way around the windshield and it will cut it loose and you just lift it off. Me and my dad removed one in like 10 mins using a tool like this.

Windshields get brittle due to age and on older cars when you try to take them out, most of them break.

Be careful with that. I work in the windshield industry, and while getting it out is hard, installing it safely and correctly is even harder. The windshield MUST be bonded to the pinchweld correctly, or else you are jeopardizing your safety. Seriously.

thanks for the advice mabe ill check to see how much it cost for a new windshield installed would be before i atemp the removal

I got quotes ranging from $200 to $400 that includes a new windshield. The cheapest way is to go to a junk yard that installs windshields and have them pull one and install it. That way if they break it while they pull it, you don't have to pay for it.

Depends on the vehicle and the insurance, but I've never seen anything over $200 for a car with the age of ours, not to mention, if your deductible is low enough, sometimes the windshield place will waive it. And once again I would NOT trust a windshield installation to anyone but a professional.

It also depends on what state you are in. In Florida, the deductabile for replacing a front windsheild is waived because it is considered a safety issue. My girlfriend's windshield was busted and we didn't have to pay anything for it.

I need to replace mine to and want to swap it from the one I rarely drive to the AWD which I always drive. How'd this work out for you? What'd you end up trying?
