I just purchased a GPS that i would like to hardwire to my car. The unit itself has an audio out to connect to radio aux ports. I was curious if the stock head unit on 2g's had an aux port , or if anyone knew of a way to add one.

Thanks,

some stock head units did have a aux input on the front of the radio in headphone jack style

Hmm, i dont believe mine has one in the front just thinking off hand. anyone know if there are any in back for sure? I suppose i can tear it out and find out but i prefer the lazy err easy way of someone with experience telling me.

Not some, more like few. I believe out of the 95-99s, only the 95s with the Infinity option had it. It's a dual din and has aux input right on the front with adjustable EQ. Very impressive if you think about it now considering the year.

Having that stock deck kept me from upgrading because of the aux input. I eventually did, but it's nice to have if you can't/dont want to upgrade.

I'm not sure if the lower models with the single din have the aux input, doubtful, but I might be wrong.

Honestly if you want to add one, just buy a new stereo. Seriously. If you look around you can get one for $29-59 at retail stores brand new. Plays mp3s/wmas, with aux input, better etc.

If you want an even cheaper ghetto method, buy the tape adapter. You know, the ones that you use to play discmans in the car from the tape deck.

Also don't bother looking in the rear of the decks, there are none. Correct me if I'm wrong.

yea mine is a 95 that had the double din infinity tape deck with the aux imput. Might have it laying around someplace still

Not on the rear, or at least not one that's commonly known about. Some models of radio that were shared with the 3000 GT and Diamante have wiring for telephone hookups; I've not heard of anyone finding if they'd work as aux inputs in any way. There's also a port for the CD changer, but again, I've never found any info for what's what in the DIN socket.
Trying to find out information about factory car radios is a pain in the ass. I don't know where it's all kept, but it doesn't seem to be on the web anyplace I've searched.

Thanks for the replies, I think i'll just get an aftermarket head unit. My stock cd player is pissy anyways.
