saskatoon,
ok so this morning my girfriend goes and tries to start my car, it turns over but doesnt start... it was cold out so she came inside and got me to come out and start my own damn car.. so I get it started without much of a problem, but then when i go to lock it so i can let it warm up and i can go inside, it locked for a split second, then unlocks itself right away... i kept pushing lock (power locks) and it kept firing back into the unlocked position.... every time i kept trying to lock it i would here a click click from under the dash and the car would unlock itself again... so i figured maybe something was frozen so i warmed it up ,drove my girlfriend to university and when i got home every thing was working just fine-the pl started to work normally.. SO , what the hell was that? has this happened to anyone else? sorry about the long post:rolleyes:

its a saftey feature to keep you from locking your keys in....on my car sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt

you know what funny, yeah it's a safety feature only if the cars running. But you know those beeetches will lokd if it is off but they are in the ignition. Happened to me, luckily I had the hatch open when they decided to lock.

My 91 GS used to do that all the time, if the keys were in or not...with just a little difference. It was only the passanger's side that unlocked itself. This all changed about 4 months ago, when it decided that it was ok for me to lock the doors from either side...;)

i guess i got the freak of a talon then.when i unlock my doors in the morning they lock again when i pull the key out. only happens in the morning too. i have to be real quikc to get that door open or i sit there for 5 minutes playing lock unlock lock with the door.

The problem there is that the locking system senses that one lock or the other is trying to lock/unlock because one of the lock handle gets 'stuck'. The real issue is the internal lock handle does fully disengage. This causes the 'Should I lock the doors now, Dave?' sensor to go 'Holy Sh!T. I need to lock'. So it does. But then once locked, the same door that caught half way open is now half way closed and the 'Should I unlock the doors now, Dave?' kick in and try to unlock it. And then the whole cycle repeats itself.

It's a common problem. If it happens again, try locking/unlocking the other lock from the inside.

i'm kinda having the same problem, except w/ mine i'm driving my car...the cars unlocked and it keeps trying to unlock itself....and im driving, LOL....but once i press lock it stops...weird huh?

I swear this so called feature pisses me off at least twice a day. I have both a '97 eclipse and a '90 talon, and both of them love to #### with me when I am running late. My key broke in the drivers door of the talon so I use my key to unlock the drivers side from the passenger, and as I am walking over to the drivers side it'll lock itself again, I swear the DSM gods hate me.

Another time, I was camping and left the keys on the seat of my eclipse, shut the door, got about five steps decided it wasn't a good place for the keys turned and heard the doors lock, and that boys and girls, is why I always carry a spare in my wallet!

Same things happens with my car. But only from the passenger side. Sometimes when I lock it from the passenger side it automatically unlocks(keys are out, in my hand). I played that game for about 10 seconds before going to the driver's side and locking it from there. It only does that every once in a while, and the driver's side always locks no matter what. I swear my Eclipse is posessed. Not to mention my door ajar sensors are messed up and go on and off at its descression(sp?).
