Moonroofs typically roll back so nothing is there. Sunroofs just prop up to allow air in. Based on that a sunroof would be cheaper. I went to the local dealership and asked them and they told me of a local place they send their cars to, about $1000 for a powered moonroof with lifetime warranty.

Its actually pretty easy to drop a moonroof or sunroof into the car.
If you buy a kit, it comes with a template, and all you do from there is align it on your roof and cut it out. then get some silicone sealent, put it on the surface of the mount, smack it on. then attach the bottom mount (inside the car) most kits have another mount which your headliner attachs to.

I have a aftermarket power roof for sale, if you are interested, also a sunroof for sale. Both have everything.

most likely no. install shops do not do anything about it. aslong as there is a good seal, and no moisture can geto it, then it would be fine.
but, it wouldnt hurt to put a little rust prevention on.

sheet metal on cars is galvanized, which prevents rust, but as soon as you get under the galvanized coating (like a deep scratch or a cut) it will rust. so logicly you would think it would rust.. but like i said aslong as no moisture can geto it, it should be fine.

maybe put a little rust-b-gone on the bare edge.

i don't see why they would leak as long as they are done correct. jsut make sure the seals are good. i would like a electrical one, but i really don't want to go through all the trouble. i mean, i'm not gonna use it so my friends and i can go down the road and stick our heads out of it.

My 1g has a manual sunroof. Both of the 1G's I've owned had sunroofs in them and both of them have leaked.

reaper is the cut-master. my hat is still off to him doing the targa-top conversion. i always thought a targa 2G would be the shizzle... then this crazy arsehole up and does it! thats what i call initiative. oh and how is that comin along Reaper? keep me posted. PM me or somthing, cause thats the illest thing in the world!
