nice. i look of the missing paint on the back. what did you use to remove the black? have you or anyone else removed the tsi/eagle badges on the passenger side? my car is red, so my worry is that you will still see where they were b/c of fading. any thoughts?

A rag and carb-cleaner takes the black of of TALON.
And you are rigth it my be faded under the tsi emblem.

If that was my car, I would use stained-glass paint and paint the entire tail light assembly red, to get rid of that ugly yellow. It would solve to "faded talon letters" problem.

I tried that also today, I used Transpartent glass paint from wal-mart. RED, it didnt work worth a crap.

Now that I look at those pics, I think Im gonna tint my 3rd brake light too. I am also dying my carpet black adn the center sections of the seats. I should have that done within a week and will post up pics of the finished project.:D

use the proven testors candy apple red clearcoat method. i've personally used it to ditch the orange on my 92 tails.

you can see them in my sig.

Did you go with a gloss black or a flat black? From the pics it looks like the black parts are shinier than the grey parts. How easy is that stuff to work with in terms of getting a nice even finish? Is it a spray or do you paint it on?

It sprays on, and then you can spray it into the cap, and use a brush to paint the edges perfect. It all blends right together perfectly.

So buy a can of Testors Candyapple red, (transparent or not?) and then put Testors clear over the whole tailight?
Doesnt the spraypaint bead up because the surface is smooth and it has nothing to stick too:confused:

actually get the testors candy apple red transparent paint. clean the surface thoroughly with soap, and water. make sure it's completely dry.
spray a light misting coat, and wait for it to tack up a little. spray 2-3 coats, and let dry.

are you shure candy apple red?

yep candy apple red. it provides enough red tint to cover, and conceal the yellow, and not overpower the rest of the red in the tail lights. (shh! i used this alot on hondas.)

just make sure it's transparent.

Testors #1605 Candy Apple Red "transparent red taillight paint" as I call it. Worked wonders on my buddy's 2G Acura Legend. Don't even need to paint the whole tail, just the orange part. Clean it as stated and mask off the red parts. Give it 3-4 coats (with ample time to dry between coats in a room temperature area). It's amazing how well the color matches the red part, unless someone knew better they'd never notice it wasn't stock.

If you wanted to make sure that the paint will stick to to that plastic, they make a plastic primer that you can pick up from any auto parts store for $3-$4. I use that on all my interior parts. Just clean the area well with Dawn dish soap, takes all of the wax or residue out of the plastic, tape it off, spray with plastic primer, goes on clear. Then hit it with your paint.
