ok guys, let's pick some brains a bit here.... this is my story.

i went to install a remote start on my talon, and i ran into this particularly peculiar situation.

I found that I have the following wires from my ignition:

black w/ yellow stripe
black w/ white stripe
solid blue
solid black
blue w/ red stripe

and one big black possibly a wire that goes directly into the back of the ignition switch. if it's a wire, it's a big one. EDIT: nah, it's not a power wire i don't believe.dunno what it is, but it doesn't have a plug or nothin.

as I tested, this is what the wires went to.

black/yellow goes to crank, that only has power when the car is cranking.
black/white goes to ignition, only powered in the "on" position

those match up with the charts on here: 1990-92 Eagle Talon Alarm, Remote Starter, Keyless Entry Wiring Information

now it gets crazy:

here's a pic....

1. i don't have a white 12V constant. there just is no white wires there.

2. the blue/red wire acts like a 2nd ignition wire. it's on only when the key is in the "on" position. oh yah, and the blue/red wire DOESN'T EXIST.

3. the blue and black wires DON'T EXIST EITHER. as tested, they act like constant 12V wires.

so in essence, here's a short version.

1. i have 3 wires that potentially don't exist.
2. i don't have 2 wires. (one that's 12V+ in ACC, one constant 12V+)
3. i have potentially a messed up car wire.

oh yah, and last crazy thing. seeing as I don't potentially have a ACC wire, i found the head unit harness and backpinned what the harness connector said was the 12V switched, and that was on all the time. so i'm just utterly confused.

ok, found some stuff....

"That is verified on my car (I went back and looked at my notes from when I did my alarm). Also note that sometimes they used a solid black wire for +12v constant instead of solid white. I've seen it both ways on 1Gs, so be aware (this is why you test your wires before installing)."

that makes sense that the black is 12V constant, but it's not any bigger than the rest of the wires, and the wire going to the starter is super diesel.... like a 12 gauge... and the 12Vconstant is like 16g, so maybe there's another wire?

"- Accessory (radio, rear defrost, wipers) is solid blue." maybe, but I get 12V to this wire when the key's not even in!

"The blue/black wire is Ignition 2 (power to HVAC and radiator fans), not Accessory. " maybe in my car it's blue/red instead of blue/black? that would explain it's 12V in "run"

I did a little testing, and my defrost doesn't turn on in the accessory position....the lights do, but not the rear defrost, only in "on/run"....

is that normal?

YouTube - black and red wire

here we have, video of the wire that doesn't exist..... i cut off the LCD face, but if you check the bottom right hand corner of the LCD screen, it switches from "mv" to regular voltage when i crank....

maybe this will help get some answers.....

this is my accessory wire pulling voltage with the key out....

well i got it all done, thanks for all the responses, they made the job much easier.

Easy anwser for you. I do this as my career. Go and grab yourself a test light, it will make life 50x's easier. I know the wiring listed is wrong, but I never made any notes when I installed mine. Just use the test light and you will find your 12v constant rigth away, the switch your ign on and off to find ign, starter and accessory.

PS.
Just actualy read your last post instead of reading it before I responded..LOL. Well, congrats.
