New style Cf hood

I can't wait to see this on a car. Most of the 2g designs without the offset bump look bulbous in the center. No way you can tell from this angle though.

I have seen a few of those in Fiberglass. I have a local DSMer here in souther indiana that has a painted one, it looks sweet.

I sent a message to Chaser Aerodynamics, LLC and they did say this will fit the turbo models. I'm also interested in this hood as I need to find a way to vent the heat in the engine bay. Can anyone dig up a pic?

That hood is not a new style. I used to sell these back in 2000-2004 when I sold body kits and hoods. Import Fan used to sell them and now Chaser Aerodynamics sells them.

Did chaser take over import fan? Do they sell all the parts that they used to sell or are they just selling whatever they had leftover?

I've always been curious how much weight you drop with a carbon fiber hood. Around how much do you shed?

Weight savings is a acumlative, it may save you 12-15 lbs.. Not one peice will save enough to drop 1/4 mile times by alot. However, 10 lbs here 3 lbs their adds up pretty quickly! It is a decent savings in my book.

100lbs of weight loss will make you 1/10, yes 1/10th faster in the 1/4 mile. So after you get a carbon fiber hood, doors, hatch, rip out the interior, if you run a 11.9, you spend all that money, you'll run a 11.8. People buy CF hoods for looks, very few buy it to save weight.

If weight loss is your goal to drop your 1/4 mile, you'll be better off looking at some lightweight wheels since they have rotational mass and not static mass like a CF part.

Agreed with the wheels .. Thats why I say it's an cumilative effect. Unsprung weight is Key.

Agreed on the weight loss comments. I bought mine because my stock hood was damaged and wanted to get some extra venting.
