Ya I am rounding off the edges the ones you've seen are just prototypes. The production pieces will be much better than those!

Ya it's different no one out there has them or sells them so I can be original and maybe even cash in a little bit. Need to get the car paid off so I can get a new engine, this would be a great help in that department! Check back to see more progress should have some more done sunday and I'll post it up sunday night for all to see. Im out thanks for the input.

I know of a company that has professional ones, but they are universal, different sizes and shapes and different shift specs and gears. I'll go on the mission to look for them. All they are is thick plates and are all brushed aluminum.

i was under the impression that those wouldnt work on our cars because the shift locations overlapped or something.

I'm not sure but you prolly already posted this in that other forum so sorry if u did, but what makes the clicking noise when you change gears? by the way that was a great idea you should start selling them when you get the final product done.:thumb:

To answer your questions. My plan is to sell them when I have a finaly product. With the stock lever It can be done but the gates will be extremely small. So I cut my stock lever and rewelded a thinner piece of stock on thats stronger than the factory unit. This way I can make the gates bigger. The clickin noise comes from the lever itself hitting the gate when I shift(It's like a second bump stop). If you check out the pages on dsmtalk you will be able to see the progress better. I should have more done sunday night. But thanks again for the input guys it's appreciated.

I like it. Definatly somthing that will catch peoples attention when they look inside your car.

The real clicking on the Ferrari's is a locking mechenism that grabs the shift arm and holds it there so the driver will not mis-shift the car when reaching up to turn up the stereo or something. Doing that would be extreamly hard. But I am still looking for that company that makes Universal shift plates (Shift Gate).

That is pretty cool how it locks the shift lever. Let me know if you find the people that make the universal gates. We'll I'm off to the shop to do some work I will post later on with an update. Later.

give me a PM if you ever get one to sell. i will buy one from you.

If my calculations are correct, the older Ferrari's rectanglear shift gate will fit perfectly onto the 2g's. But there would have to be some way to mount it. Because they only come with 2 nice looking bolts in the middle of the top and bottom of the plate, you could just glue the bolts on in this area for looks and superglue or something to get it to stay. Take your car to a Kit Car location near you and tell them that you want to hybrid a Shift Gate onto your car, pull your shift knob and boot off and play around with whatever they have there, and whatever you think will work the best, get it.

Well just got in a little while ago, got alot of progress done check out the link to go to dsmtalk. As for using an actuall ferarri shift gate and then having someone modify it would cost alot of money! Good luck finding a shift gate for cheap, and then the cost to have a profesional modify it for you car would also be extremely expensive too. Well im out.

"oh thats only for a 1g???????"

For now, until he has a project mule 2G on which to work.

InfiniteGSX:
How would the Ferrari's locking mechanism know when to "let go" of the shifter? What kind of calculations have you done to check if the Ferrari's gate will work?
I'm curious.
