Tsi without a sunroof RARE?

I am building a motor for my friends 92 Talon Tsi and the weird thing is that I thought all talons with turbos had sunroofs. This talon doesn't have a sunroof. Anyone else know anyone who has a Tsi without a sunroof. -Austin

It was a option. Just like the AWD's if you got the "premium" package it came with an alarm.

every car on earth has packages you can custom select. Lately I just saw an Evo, looking like a regular lancer. Lancer Wing, Plain looking tail lights, No Sunroof...

They were an option, but most came with one already installed. And, the charges on the invoice. Non-sunroofed turbos are fairly rare, but not something you'd get an extra dime for.

My '91 TSi doesn't have a sunroof either. They are definitely more rare, as most people preferred the sunroof option. Most guys that are turning these into track cars, actually prefer them without the sunroof. The sunroof assembly can be quite heavy for a car when weight is a major concern.

^ Not to mention head room, especially with a helmet. I had a 95 Talon TSi parts car with no sunroof. I was half tempted to cut the roof out and save it "just in case" for the gsx.

That is very interesting. My friend was think'n its converted to a tsi. Or it was a mistake by the factory.

It was always my understanding that with 2gs, it was an option not to get a sunroof on a turbo model, and the sunroof was standard. Who knows though. My 2g sunroof leaked right on my pants when it rained. And it wasn't just clear water, it was the rusty colored water. Hated that. It was nice in the summer, but my '92 has no sunroof and I don't really miss the damn thing honestly.

I have no sunroof on my 90, In fact I've seen more 1ga Talons WITHOUT sunroof, then with it.

Oh, and I have the factory alarm.

My 91 TSI had no sunroof or factory alarm.
My 98 TSI has a factory alarm but no sunroof.

I just checked the Talon brochures for 1995 to 1998 (all 2gs) and the sunroof is listed as an option for all years. The factory alarm is an option through 1996 and part of a package in 1997 and 1998. The alarm system in my 1998 came with the package that included A/C and floor mats.

My 1991 Talon brochure is among the missing.

I have a 2g "eclipse" GSX with no sunroof or stock alarm, that is rare. Imagine no leather in that mix, now that would be something.

Sunroofs are always an option. Its just an extra cost, but for the mostpart i think most turbos came with em anyways. Also most 2G GS's ive seen got a sunroof too. The packages probably sold better. And the price could have likely been marked down to match those without a sunroof anyways.
But i guess itll save you a little wieght, + its one less thing you have to worry about breaking.

I didn't have any of the 3. But then again, I have a TSi AWD not a GSX so I don't know if that makes a difference.
