hey guys, i'm saving up for a body kit.. (don't flame me) and i was wondering what should i get? urethane or fiberglass.. the urethane is about 750$ for the whole kit before shipping and the fiberglass is around 400$ I was told that urethane is better fitting and will bolt right up and fiberglass has to be worked, is it better to pay the extra money and get urethane? thanks

If you plan on keeping the car get the urethane body kit if the car is your pride and joy and plan on keeping it a long time 7-10 years. If you have a not beater, but higher mileage car, but are trying to fix it up and money is descreet than get the cheap fiberglass.

Fiberglass can sometimes crack and break in extreme temperature changes. Extreme heat and cold are not good for it. Good luck on your project.:dsm:

High quality fiberglass is by far better than Eurethane.

Ever done repairs to a stock bumper? Ever repaired fiberglass before? I've done both and I will take fiberglass ANY day of the week.

Eurethane is heavier, cannot hold shape at higher speeds, and is a ##### to work with. Most eurethane kits are based on the ever so popular "Blitz" style and are on their way out. Eurethane is also harder to paint, shatters, rather than fiberglass which will just crack. Also most eurethane is not like the stock ABS resin, so it's not like you're getting a factory strength bumper.

Decent fiberglass work will bend and will be much stronger than your average ASSYLUMS or Eberuni knockoff crap. You shouldn't be able to see light through your bumpers if they're fiberglass.

That clear enough?

I have a urethane kit and it doesn't look like ####. They seem to be better made, but the only problem is that it flexes

man you guys are making it even more hard for me to pick which one!! to the guys with fiberglass: did it fit right up pretty well or did you have to do some work to make it fit? and to the guys with urethane, the same questions.. thanks guys

Mine wasn't a perfect fit. It did take some work, but that really goes for any kit on a 2000+ Eclipse. My husband has a fiberglass kit on his car, and they went through a bunch of crap to get his on. He still thinks urethane is better.

The 3G kits aren't bolt on. You have to cut out the stock bumper and fit the kit over it. I'm sure it wouldn't have been so bad if we woudn't have had to do all that cutting and stuff.
