i have a 92 talon. i'm replacing my head unit because the old one turns off after it gets to a certain volume. i pulled the dash apart and went to put the new harness in, but it looks like the guy who had the car before me snipped all the wires in front of the stock connector and wired the aftermarket plug inside the dash. i tried plugging the new head unit into the connector that was wired up, but this one also turns off after it gets to a certain volume. i tested the voltages coming out of the plug with a voltmeter and it looks like it's powered and grounded correctly (12v hot wire and 12v always on battery). the only thing i can think of is that a speaker wire is crossed somewhere and shorting out when the volume gets louder. i have a speaker wiring diagram from alldata to make sure everything matches, but i can't seem to get the colors to match up.

does anyone have a speaker wiring diagram for my car? any suggestions on what to do? please help!

looks like the problem was a bad ground. i went through and redid all the wiring, but it still had the same problem. i hooked up a different ground to test, and its working great. i really wasnt convinced it was a grounding problem, but it was!
