what rims should i get

I have 18x8's with low pro tires and it handles amazing compared to the stock wheels. If you are looking for looks also, the 17's do not fill the gap as much and the 18's will look better and still be as good if not better depending on the size tire you get. Goodluck:dsm:
 
16s, 17s, 18s... pick one. It all depends on what you want, bigger rims and skinny low profile tires or normal size rims and decent size tires or smaller rims and more tire.

I have for 17s with 225/45 tires.
 
Dude, its your car! Choose what wheels you want on your own... don't ask what other people wants on your car! Its your car!

Handleing... anything with a low pro tire, light weight will handle better then stock.

I had 17x7.5" wheels with 45 series tires... I live on 100miles of S Curves... nice straights, tight curves. So I'm a roadracer! I could rip around corners at 50-90mph and sometimes faster if I got into the turn properly. Ususaly I'm throwing the rear end around tho cause I rip corners soo tight. I also had 17x7" OEM wheels with 50 series tires... I didn't push the car as much... too much wobbling. The taller the tire, the more the car will wobble around the place.

Now, I'm going with 19x8 or 20x8" wheels with a 40 or 45 Series tire. To fill the gap. The wheels I want, are only a few lbs heavier then my last set of 17's. and I'll still use them like before... but I wont beat on it as bad. I'm going to nab a set of racing wheels with some great gripping tires for that.
 
if you want bigger wheels, my suggestion is stick with 17" or 18" wheels. also, look for something that is decently light. IMO a wheel without a tire that weighs 20+ lbs is pretty heavy. also how much money are you planning to spend? you can get a set of enkei rpf1's in 17x9 for about 1000 dollars, or if you want some really nice wheels, there is volk, work, advan and ssr's. SSR comps are some very light wheels, and they look pretty nice too.

Doesn't matter what size wheel you have as long as you plus size it right, because you are keeping the same overall diameter.
In my opinion I wouldn't go any bigger then 17's. And if you do have some wheel gap, thats what lowering springs are made for!

Yeah. You would want the wider rim up front because it's a FWD car. It'll handle better this way. This is the way most JDM FWD cars do it. (And by JDM FWD cars I mean Honda cars...ROFL )

Whether it is a FF, FR, or AWD car, a wider front wheel (and tire) will help reduce understeer. It is not being more 'JDM' then the next guy like you may think. It may seem abnormal to have a reverse stagger setup, but with the added grip it translates to reduced understeer.
Reducing understeer on the streets won't do much, it's more of a thing that you would do for the track.
 
Haha. I know. It was just a little joke. I've seen a lot of Evos and STIs with a reverse staggered setup but not too many FR because normally FR makes more power then a smaller rear wheels can handle so they go wide. A reverse staggered on a FWD would be great on the track if you know what you are doing. Like knowing you have to break the rear of the car just the slightest bit lose on entry to create oversteer so you can power through and not have obscene amounts of understeer. Because to correct oversteer on a FWD is simple. Just steer the wheels in the direction you want to go and give it just a bit more gas and it pulls you straight. Oversteer on a FWD is good most of the time. But only enough to have the rear tires follow the line of the fronts so you don't plow the corner.

As for the JDM thing, I only said that because i don't see many street cars here that have that setup. Over in Japan it seems like every shop car that isn't FR has it even if it is just a daily driver.
 
Original thread starter guy. If you want the "staggered look" Look into the maxxis lip technology junk that jsut came out. I forgot the name of the company that makes the wheels but i'm sure if u google "maxxis lip" you will find something. They have wheels that have the appearance of a staggered setup but really are the same all the way around.
