I have a '91 Talon that I have removed a bunch of stuff for less weight. Recently I took out my dash to paint it. I like it better with it out. My question has anyone ever left out the dash and built something out of aluminum or any other material? The only pictures I could find anywhere were of RRE's race car. Call me crazy but I think theirs looks better than the original. I mean to keep the factory cluster but nothing else. I don't mind the metal, err.....lack of dash (My other "car" is a really built Jeep with a REALLY spartan interior!). Has anyone on here ever done this? I don't really like the factory dash as it is. Or should I just put my dash back in and forget about this idea?

That's alot of work and very commendable if you have the materials and know-how to custom fit it.

I went with the carbon fiber bezel and dash kit. It looks alright and personally I think the interior lines of DSMs are nicely contoured and give a cockpit feel. I have the cloth interior so all that is coming out and reupholstered to tweed. That's about as far with the interior I can think that a normal person would do. But good luck with the whole race-car conversion.

if you can bend and weld metal you could do it. As far as getting stickers to put on your dash to make it look better, i dont think they make those yet. And if you like the no dash thing and arent using the car as a daily driver i would go for it. When i did it it just looked like a mess of wires and a dirty interior

If it's a daily driver, there's a lot of states that consider it illegal to drive around without a dash since it a type of safety device.
