I did some searching but found nothing but the other way around.

Here is the back story. I bought my budies 91 talon becouse he wrecked it right after he just fixed it from the last wreck. Its coming with big 16g, MAF translator, FMIC (which is smashed from the wreck), suspention, 550 injectors, and a 225lph fuel pump.

I have a 92 talon thats only has a turbo back exaust. So I am going to rob everything off of the new car that I can!

Now i started off with an S13 so I love the pop ups!
I want to put the pop ups on my 92 but i was wondering about the wiring.

How are the motors wired up and where is the relay for the pop ups? (I guess im dumb, I cant find it.)

And if any one elce has done this before I would love to hear from you.

Relay for the popups is in the underhood main fuse box... can't really tell you much more than that, aside from that the electrical volume of the factory service manual will very likely come in handy. Doubt that the wiring for the popup control even still exists in the 1Gb, so it'll have to be re-run entirely. Can look at it as a bonus.. get independent popup control from the get-go, instead of having to weasel around trying to figure out how to disable the 'safety' automatic bits.

Thanks man.

I figured thats what i would have to do right from the start. But at least now i could make it wink too. LOL

Sorry thats lame, i know.

You had an S13 so you love pop ups? Don't make sence. S13's had Stationary Headlights. 180SX's had Pop ups. Not one Silvia came with Flip up headlights. They were all stationary. ALL 180SX's up until I belive 2000 came with flip up headlights.

I have all the parts to do this. Even all the wiring. I have a 1ga shell (the underbody is rusted really bad), and a 1gb that is perfect (just needs to be painted). I want to put the 1ga flip-ups on the 1gb.

I'm worried about the wiring. I have the 1ga shell just chillin.

I have a 90 model laser and I wanna know can i swap like a 93 r so talon front clip on my car( hood headlights fenders bumper etc ) is that possable and is there anything specail I would need that I left out.........also could I swap the rear bumper and tail lights.. too make the whole car look like a talon.

180 and silvias have the same body but they are differant cars. thats just my understanding of that

but i did the whole swap and well i loved it .
except for the whole multy colored part.

the wiring was really easy, just spliced the plugs in off the pop ups. no problem.
but i had to cut the sides to get the side marker lights to fit. and i never got the pop up motors to work due to not ever geting around to trying to wire it up.

im lazy i know.

but here are the pics

and i had to use weather striping between the bumper and the headlights to fill in the gap

but i wouldnt really recomend this just becouse of the way the side marker lights are suposed to screw into the side, the 1gb dont have a place for them to atach to. and the front lights i had to drill the spot welds off of the doner cars headlighs holder and mount them on the blue car with a nut as a spacer.

im shure that i would have got it all good looking eventualy but i traded it for a 2g so the car is nolonger mine.

Wow!

That s13 on a 1ga is freakin sexy as sh!t...\

How come not everyone is doing it?

I might consider buying a junk 1g to make it a project and do this front end conversion shoot.

Has anybody ever converted their popup headlights to non-popup headlights?

This can be done too, but it is a significant amount of trouble. It appears that most people purchased the front end they wanted with their car, as information on this modification is limited.

According to Paul Bratina:

"The following parts must be replaced: hood, fenders, headlights, side marker lights. The front bumper can be kept (as in my case) but must be slightly modified. Replacing the bumper with a 92-94 makes the conversion easier. Replacing the hood is strictly bolt-on. The fenders are bolt-on except for where they attach at the very front (easily accommodated). Mounting the headlights (and to a lesser extent, the side marker lights) is by far the hardest part of the conversion, and is definitely not a bolt-on procedure. I certainly wouldn't consider it technically difficult. Mostly just time consuming.

I think it's worth mentioning a little bit about the costs involved in the conversion. First, assuming you get all the parts necessary at the wreckers, the parts alone would run somewhere in the $500-$1000 area. (Of course, some of this cost could be recovered with the sale of your old parts.) Then you have the issue of repainting the car. Unless one is interested in a multi-coloured car (all the various body parts that were necessarily replaced), I consider repainting the car to be absolutely mandatory. So whatever the paint job costs, could theoretically be added to the cost of the conversion. In my case, I was going to be repainting the car anyway, so that cost didn't "count". I really feel the thought process on this conversion should be something like: "I'm going to get the car repainted and while I'm at it, I'll throw in a conversion." Not the other way around--you know, do a conversion and throw in a paint job."

A quick & dirty method for keeping the headlights down is to remove the fuse that controls the headlight motors, or to rewire them under manual control. This keeps the lights down when they are on, and thus is sort of a 'non-popup' mod.

The Last Word:: George Johnson adds:

"I looked for what I believed to be a good amount of time for the popup to non-popup conversion wiring schematic. I apparently failed to find it, so I figured you might like to add it into the answer to the swap.

A really good combo would be:1ga front end with a 1gb talon rearend :thumb:

Did you happen to read the OP.

He wants a 1gb to look like a 1ga, that means he wants the pop-ups from the 1ga to be put on the 1gb
