Hey,
I just got some replacement taillights off ebay. "excellent condition" he said, but unfortunately one of the corners of the houisng was chipped and looks terirble.

I wanted to know if it was possible to swap lenses between housings. I've tried with 7 kitchen knives and a screw driver to try and pry all the little lips holdinging the lens on apart but with no luck.
Has anyone ever done this?

I just did this today but on my center tail light...Im lighting it http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258541 ( maybe you could give some input if you know anything )

Anyway It took 2 people 2 screw drivers and I still snapped 2 of the lense lips off. It will come you just have to wedge something in the parts you have gotten unclipped and then just work slow...you'll get it. Goodluck. By the way what side you doing this on ?

Sad to hear you already purchased some, I have my old set in totally perfect condition. How much did you end up paying? Well, anyways, back to the subject...I'd assume it would be similar to taking apart the headlight housing, with heating it up in the oven about 200-250 degree's for a few minutes and they prying it open, I believe you'll find quite a few threads on the subject, I hope that helps.

The reason I'm dicken around with the tails to begin with is cause my RIGHT(passenger) side is cracked and I wanted to TEST paint the center tail to match the car.
Problem is the set I recived on ebay (in great condition!!!) actually has a chipped corner on the RIGHT (passenger) taillight housing. Sweet eh?
My plan was to use my already good housing and just use the new lens I got off ebay in place of my cracked lens. 2 broken parts mixed together to make 1 good part.

knighteclipse1, I'll look into the oven thing, I am not sure if the same applies to the taillights as it does to headlights.

Thanks guys

yea I dont think the tails have that layer of grey glue or what ever it is....the center tail didnt anyways, but then again it doesnt have a light in it...yet haha
