They claim that it's 3" piping with a stainless steel muffler.

I know that the cheap Tsudo catback exhausts for the 2g GST are pretty good quality so I don't underestimate cheap ebay exhausts. But I'm wondering if these awd exhausts are good as well.

Any help is appritiated:dsm:

I had an eBay exhaust on mine, it did it's job, no leaks, welds held up at high temps, it came with a warranty, and it bolted on with no problems. The only thing I didnt like was the sound, it was way to ricey. I suggest getting it, but remeber, you pay for what you get..... :talon:

Get what You pay for too.:p

Don't go cheap. If you want something inexpensive but decent go w/ megan racing. I wouldn't go with something like that ebay because when it does break you have to pay for another one, when in the end you could of gotten something quality.
You can get a turbo back apex n1 for $450. Probably just the cat-back for $320ish

Pretty much what ^^^said. You dont want to buy something that is going to make You cringe when its installed and heard for the first time. Save the money to get something You want.

Tsudo doesn't make an awd catback...............

DragonTalon, which ebay exhaust are you reffering to? I don't really know what could go wrong with an exhaust besides shity welds.

I had just the cat back on it. I am not to sure what model or type it is, I could find it later, but yeah, sh*tty welds are a pain on these exhausts, but they do their job, but sound way too ricey..... eeeeeeeeeee, psstt, eieieieieieieieiei, too much for me. On my setup, I could hear the Turbo spool and my BOV, but on the eBay one, no, just eeeeeeeeeeee

Anyone else have any opinions on this catback? I'm thinking of getting it. I usually never buy anything because it has a good warranty, but my logic on it is if it has a 3 year warranty the quality can't be that bad...

If its in your price range get. Let us know how it works out. If you don't like the sound, cut it and have a resonator installed in some of the straight sections at a muffller shop. But you DO need still to address your Downpipe and Cat. The megan 3" downpipe is a cat eliminator, however at the end it does neck down to 2.5" though the body is 3". So be aware of that and that you may need to do some welding and cutting too.

Also wondering about this Xtune exhaust, if they made the Tsudo or the Megan for the 2g gsx i'd probably pick one of those up

other than the muffler part, which you can cut out and replace (and i'm assuming the ebay one is just a resonation chamber), how can ebay 3" pipe sound substantially different than non ebay 3" pipe?

Seriously, save money and go buy an HKS hi power or Apexi N1. Both exhuast sounds real deep and smooth and also better quality. I did, save and got me a HKS.

I just received my XTUNE catback yesterday. Was getting kinda getting impatient because the shipping status stayed @ "electronic information received" until I received it, so I thought they never shipped it out. Took 8 days to receive it after payment was sent. (Very slow considering the shipping warehouse they shipped it from is only 2 hours away from me.) Paid $249.xx shipped.

Key for the attached image:

1: Left shown flange has 2.5" flange, Right shown flange is 3"

2: Flange is 3", Muffler Tip is 4.5".

3: 4 bolts/nuts/washers, a 2.5" exhaust gasket, and 3" exhaust gasket.

4: Pipe: 2.5" flanges connected to 3" pipe.

5: ...so you have a more hands on feeling and visual on the size of this catback to offset the crappy attempt to include a measuring tape in this pic.

Will bolt it up tomorrow morning...wish me luck.

Thanks for the promise I guess. But I am gonna stick with full 3". No point in having a 3" exhaust if it necks down at all the flanges.

Got done installing this catback along w/ a hi-flow cat (funny because I bought the cat a long time ago for my NT, but seller lied to me and it was for a turbo, now finally it comes out the closet and is being put to good use)

Took alot longer than I expected, kept fumbling with tools trying to work with 5" of clearance from my chest to the underside of my car. Also my damn o2 sensor was being stubborn so I had to use vice grips and a hammer to beat it off (yes I applied penetrant about 4 times before doing this but it didn't help much). I also sheared off the cat bolts, but no need to easy-out since I'm gonna install another cat anyway.

I suggest going to a hobby shop and using a lift. It woulda saved me a ton of time.

Anyways, this exhaust kicks ass. It's VERYYYY deep sounding; no rattling, farting or bumble bee noises.

Pros:

  • Cheap
  • 3 year warranty
  • AWESOME deep sounding tone
  • 3" piping
  • Big Shiny 4.5" Muffler

Cons:
  • You are gonna need an extra exhaust gasket to connect to the cat (I just used Hi Temp Silicone RTV)
  • Mid-pipe has 2.5" flanges (I guess they did this for better universal fitament for the stock/2.5" aftermarket cat)
  • Muffler mounting brackets ends need to be peened, clamped, etc. so the rubber hangers won't slip out (I used small hose clamps)
  • End bracket on muffler is facing |. The rubber hanger bracket hole is facing ---- . (I just tied the bracket to the rubber hanger bracket using metal strapping tape.)

Overall I'm very satisfied with this catback. The only thing that bugs me is the 2.5" mid-pipe flanges, but at least the piping is still 3" so later down the road when I feel like it I can just cut 'em off and weld some 3" flanges when I get a 3" downpipe.

It dosnt appear to neck down at all the flanges to me, but thats not what I menat anyways.
I thought you were talking about teh bend at the end of the piping do the muffler comes out straight.

I misinterpretted your use of the word "straight".
