so i painted the whole car ,looked nice until i went back into the garage and one spot ,one!right on the factory hood scoop, i've wet sanded and also took it to bare metal, and yet the same spot will not quit spider webbing cracking .i used body prep and everything any ideas? anyone?

I had the same problem with my tailight center section. I would paint it, then it would spiderweb. I would clean it really well with wax and grease remover and I still got the same results.

I ended up re-sanding the whole thing, then re-priming and painting. Finally no cracks.

Clean it very well with prep sol solvent remember to use the wet cloth first, then follow over that with a clean dry cloth.

Sounds like you are going to have to re-paint the hood. I couldn't get it to come out clean any other way.

agreed, you will have to repaint the hood, the more you try to clean it and repaint it, the worst it will be, your better off taking the extra step and resanding and re priming the hood and repaint it. I ran into a problem like that with an old car of mine, finally had to repaint the entire quarter, and it worked.

yes, i agree ,regretfully but i kinda was hoping someone had a quick fix, but might as well do it before ohio snow returns . and while i have the time. thanks guys.

Spider webbing is due to the paint not being able to flex so it cracks. I believe some paints have an additive that allows the paint to be more flexable I forget what its called. My friend does alot of paint and body work I can ask him if theres a quick fix and what you can do to prevent it and let ya know.

i had the same problem with a bumper i had a body shop paint. After the screw up i had a buddy of mine paint it for me. he said the body shop ###### didnt use enough of something so the paint wasnt flexing like it should. After my buddy did it, it looks new as can be.

If the problem paint is only in one spot on the whole car I doubt it was the mix.

There was most likely some kind of contamiment on the trouble spot surface. Another sign of this is fisheyes. The surface is just as important as the paint, that is what makes the job, the paint just goes on top. ;)
