What sounds best?

Okay i have a ported big 16g with a full 3inch exhaust, i have my k&n filter hanging where my smic use to be and i used a 2.5 inch aluminum piping to run that to my turbo inlet. When this thing spools up it sounds like a bus taking off, it sounds awesome.

Im moving up from the 16g to a pte scm-6152E(i think i got that right, off the top of my head) with a turbo this big i just thought it would sound crazy when it spools up if i leave the k&n filter out there. wouldnt it?

I was going to reroute my wastegate back into the exhaust because with a turbo that big it would sound crazy when it spooled but then i heard my friends gt35r evo dumping right behind me which made me jump while i was getting into my car at a store(i didnt know he was going by).

After hearing that it made me think of how sick it would sound having a wastegate dump also instead of re-routing it but i wanted some opinions on what would sound the best?

Also those who do dump how does it sound putting a motorcycles exhaust on the dump? Does it just muffle it or give it a different sound? I just want the sickest sound possible, but does the sound of a jet flying by or a wastegate dumping/scaring the shit out of people seem best?

The spool is definitly the best part. I have heard some okay dumps but some sound like shit. Like an open down pipe. You understand that some people might mistake you for a 747 coming down the highway. What I mean is it might get obnoxious after a while.

on my other car i have a small 16g with an o2 dump, it was fun at first but ehh, im sure it can make some people jump in their seats when i pass them but is their even a difference in the sound of an o2 dump on a 16g as a wastegate dump? My friend is running around 30 pounds on the street now with his evo, he has a methanol system hooked up, and im sure its louder than my 16g o2 dump but ive never heard my o2 dump outside the car.

Hearing his makes me want it just to piss/scare people on the highway but i just want what will sound the best

I would imagine the o2 dump isn't as loud as an external dump because it is muffled a little bit going through the turbo. Like I said, hearing a loud ass spool from the turbo along with a 1g BOV is tough sounding enough for me.

This would be of great use to annoy somebody while they're driving while on the cellphone though.

ive been searching the threads for the past half hour and i must be using the wrong searching words to bring this up because all i find are threads about 20gs, the answer im looking for is would a tial 38mm wastegate hold boost from 20-30pounds perfectly fine for the street, and in the 30+ at the track for my pte turbo?

The threads i find are people asking if a 38 will hold for their 20g's but i couldnt find anything for someone running a much larger turbo with the same wastegate.

And should i stay away from the hks and other wastegates? Someone throw another brand out here that will hold steady high boost thats a little cheaper than the tials.

30 psi on a 38mm is pushing it. You would probably want to go to a 40mm or a 44mm. I have an HKS one if you are interested PM me.

Pushing that much boost you don't want to go cheaper than a TiAL.

My buddy has that same turbo, and he also has an open dump, and his sounds like ping pong balls dropping, and I have one on mine, with my ported EVOIII big 16g, and it sounds similar to the ping pong effect, but it giggles. I am serious, it sounds like someone is giggling at you, but with the fierceness of the Screaming Eagle behind you... I like em, but they do track alot of "DUMP" in your engine bay, but that is fine, you could put a screen on the bottom of it, something that would be able to handle the heat and temps... I custom made the one on mine. I like the open dump, but yeah, I have heard some that do sound like sh*t, like its dieing or trying to boost and getting nowhere... You get what you pay for, and check to see if your turbo is compatible with an open dump, I know PTE's are not, most of them anyway... and alot of people know that open WG and open Dumps are illegal, so dont let no one see or hear of your projects. I keep that to myself, only with other boosters or DSMers.... I hope it works out....
