Or Is This Valid?

I just got quoted at Maaco. The guy was really cool and pretty honest. He said alot of shops will do hours of wetsanding/buffing to the paint before they give you the car back. He said he just doesn't have anybody at this shop that can do that. So he suggested if I paint it there to then go get it wetsanded and the paintjob will look outstanding.

I've had Maaco paintjobs before and even wetsanded and buffed, they were average at best. A good paintjob is the focal point of any car's appearance. I'd get some more quotes just to be safe from more reputable shops that use higher quality materials and can take the car from start to finish without issues.

It's your call, but I wouldn't chintz out on paint.

I have to agree with Andy, Maaco doesn't have a good rep for outstanding paint jobs. Right after you get your car back it might look good, but it doesn't last for long at all. Since the paint is what everyone on the steets see, I would pay a lot more to have her really shine.

Ya well I hear that alot of it comes from prep work, which I plan on doing all that myself. It will be ready to just hand over and paint. Plus it comes with a 5 year warranty. So any flaws later down the road had better be covered. I don't see me owning the car for another 5 years anyways.

I do see where you guys are coming from though and I appreciate the advice. I know its not the best choice, but sometimes when it comes to options/money there is only a limited amount of choices.
