help with gauges and leds

i want to keep my stock black faced gauges, but switch to blue leds....i have done the hvac in my old car but not the instrument cluster...how do i do it? where do i tap for power for the leds?

Remove your bezel,2 screws,and then the gauge cluster itself,4 screws.There are 7 that need replaced.Solder 330 ohm resistors to the positive leg of the led and then solder them to the original contacts for the twist in bulbs.Put the cluster back in and see which ones are not lit..reverse the polarity on those.

If you do not sand the coating off the backs of the black faces it will look dull but when you sand them you'll have hotspots....you basically gotta live with one or the other till you can find stock lookin blue backlit EL gauge faces.

Yes, that is a lot cheaper than speedhut. But I don't like the red line in it. I plan on getting speedhut's face gauges and HVAC sometime soon.

Off the subject just alittle bit here, but what about aftermarket 52mm gauges that are similar to factory (blk/wht by day and blk/ornge by night) I have seen the defi ones, but they are soooo very expensive.

I have blue LED lights in my car already, just need some blue glow (all blue) on white face gauges. I'm still trying to decide if I want to go Autometer Boost/Vac in one gauge and a volt gauge or skip the volt gauge and get one boost gauge and one Vacuum gauge. The gauges are going in a dash cluster bezel. Phantoms with blue LEDs should match all my other lights, and the amp I'm getting in 3 weeks has a voltmeter on it.

How are we off the subject? we are still talking about gauges and LEDs.

^^^^^Exactly, the more info on different gauges, the more options one has.

if you want blue gauges you can always do what my ghetto ass did and sand off the yellow, put blue translucent wrap over the back of them and use a glue stick and then blam you have different color gauges

Off subject in the sense that I'm not talking about the blue ones which he is looking for. My Eclipse has S7 dash gauges and S7 52mm gauges, they are blue and look awesome day and night. But with my Talon I kinda wanted to keep it simple by getting 52mm gauges that look similar to the factory ones.
