I bought a cheapo buffer from advanced auto, and its ok for applying wax and cleaning the car, but it sucks at getting scratches out. I used Rubbing and Polishing compounds and neither really do much to clear up scratches. Before I go spending any more money should I get the car professionally detailed, or get some of that detailer spray and see how that comes out. There are hundreds of fine scratches all over the car.

u should spend some money and get a good buffer first. the ones that they sell suck. i know i work for them. secondly get some good buffing compound. get like a three or four stage compounds and u will be good. be carefull though because you can burn the paint. if u dont trust urself then bring it somewhere. but if u do i will probly cost u as the same to get everything urself but u will only have to put it all out one time
