Okay i am now looking into getting a carbon fiber hood. I would like to know which hood i should get? I heard some good and bad stuff about VIS cf hood, so i might stay away from them. I also seen vis cf hood and it seem like it do not last long compare to most other cf hood.

I am looking for an OEM cf hood. any recommendation on what brand i should check out. a link would be very helpful.

thanks

one of the site sponsors, sportcompactonly.com has carbon fiber hoods for pretty cheap, dunno about the quality though.

Well, I am trying to spend at most for a CF hood is around 350. I just want something that is in good quality.

I had a VIS hood on my last car. What I was told to do was to have it clear coated. So I did and the hood fit great! I put it on myself. I never had any problems with UV damage or fading at all. I'm not sure if that was because of the clear coating or not but either way I never had a problem. I got the hood off ebay, but it cost me a little under $450 shipped. The seller was carbon innovation, I highly recommend them. Great comunication and fast shipping!

http://www.eccmotorsports.com/ecccarbon.html I found that from a different topic here and was wondering if anyone have heard or got a hood from them, the cf hood go for 320 but they have a retail price of 620 i think. For the cf hood on SportCompactOnly.com they sell Seibon CF hood for 400 and was wondering if anyone know the quality of Seibon CF hood?

I am trying to get good quality cf hood because from what i seen from Vis and other cf hood it seem to fade or the pattern seem to warp.

Forgot to mention ECC Motorsports also mention this:

ECC Carbon fiber hood line:This is our new line of carbon fiber hoods. Our new line offers a one piece fiberglass bottom gel-coated with a black high gloss show finish, Stainless steel hinge, rolled edges, gel-coated top (marine grade) will never fade, direct bolt on, THIS is one of the strongest hoods ever made. Thick supports, you DON'T need to run hood pins with our hood. This is a grade A hood.

Seibon Carbon Fiber Coming Soon!!!!

I decided to go with the ECC carbon fiber hood since it is more in my budget line. Hopefully I can get the hood in a month or so.

I have not order the hood yet since I am still low on cash. I checked and the shipping for the cf hood from ECC will be 110 so a total of 420.

I've had my ViS for 1 year now, through rain and shine. Waxed every 2 months. No metling on the inside due to engine heat. Excellent fitment and quality, picked it up for $520 brand new.

Did you leave it how it came or put that heat sheild thing on from stock hood.. I cant think of what its called right now, too zoned out from exam today WTF. thanks

I had heard a lot about the inside of CF hoods melting due to engine heat, and I was worried about the problem.

I never got around to installing a heat shield (people do rip them off the stock hoods), and have had no problems at all. I think the vent in the invader hood sufficiently cools down the bay temperature. I've been running the hood for over a year now, no problems at all.

Well, i just talked with a friend of mine and he said he can get his hand on Seibon CF hood. He is able to get hook ups on them from his friend. This way I will not have to pay for any shipping and handling fee and i will be getting a good discount on it.

I've had a Seibons hood for nearly a year now. 100+ mph, no hood pins, no problem (so far)

EEEEEK. You did not just say that. Get hood pins ASAP.

I'm not too worried about it. I don't drive fast in my car except for that once and i was watching the hood to see for any movement the whole time

Hey do you think he can hook it up w/a CF hood for 300 shipped :sneaky:

WTF WTF WTF

Vastly documented horror stories reveal that CF hoods can smash against the windhsield at as little as 35-40 miles/hr speeds, in a split second. The aftermarket latch fails when you least expect it. Do some searches on the experiences people have had, it'll give you a sense of urgency to get thos puppies installed ASAP.

I don't think he can hook up anyone that he don't know. Also I don't think he can go that low for 300 + shipping. I am getting it for around 300 without shipping so hopefully I can get it by the end of this month, but if my friend other friend buy one too I can get a better discount.
