The hood on my car has a 4" x 4" dent in it. I don't like carbon fiber hoods (look ugly on any other color besides black) and I plan on getting my car painted in blue.

I found this 95-99 Eclipse/Talon fiberglass hood for $400 shipped on ebay and it must be new because it is not on their website yet. Does anyone know if the fiberglass hood will fit a turbo car? Does the space under it look like it will fit? Anyone ever heard of the company? Thanks in advance.

The hood above is the same design as a VIS G Speed Carbon fiber hood (pic below) which I've seen installed on one GSX. I don't see myself spending $650+ for the CF hood and then get it painted.

The spots for the hood support bumpers seem to be in the perfect location, so odds are, it fits fine..

I think it's ugly though, and you should stick with OEM:thumb:

I thought about getting a OEM hood but I wanted a hood with a vent so I don't have to get another one after I finish all the mods.

fiberglass reallysucks
I had a fiberglass bumper and it was a piece of shit.

easy to break, I can't imagine a hood made out of paper mache' being worth while.
w/e tho to each his own

From their listing...

Aerogear makes the predator hood for N/Ts, I've seen a lot of people on here with that fiberglass hood.

Hrmm...

so a dude is standingo n that, and the other people are flexing the other one...not bad, pretty durable,

wonder why my shit practically disentigrated when I barely scraped the ground :(

even still, it's like a hood and stuff, you want to slam it everytime to make sure it's latched right, over time wouldn't that eff up your hood?

Since it is fiberglass, it should be lighter than the stock hood, so hopefully I won't have to slam it to make sure it latches. But I have to get it first... :)

(I have a few friends that paint cars)Two things:

1. Mount the hood first and run it on the car for a few weeks before painting it. This may also be recommended by the manufacturer -- it allows the hood to settle while being exposed to heating and cooling.

2. Use two hood pins in the front and two in the back -- no hood latches. When you work on the car, take the hood off and put it aside. Pushing the hood down to latch it can cause it to buckle and/or flex (cracking the paint).

I've seen fiberglass on DSM's before, they are nice when they are prepped, installed, and painted properly. Oh, and remember, if you paint fiberglass and metal the same color they will weather and age to a different color.

i used to have a grounddesigns real black widow kit and the thing toook some major abuse from me..my old honda had airbags and i would knock it up all the time and i got into an accident the front bumper only had like a 6 inch crack after that i was amazed at fiberglass.i think if you get a good brand name the quality is def. diff then ifyou bought the generic stuff..as fo rhte hood those vents are huge wont the intake suck in all that water when it rains?..i dunno where you live but personally living in ny..i can see someone who doenst like you just punching in those vent grills cutting some hoses and stuff and just messing up the engine..just my two cents..id go oem style ..

i dont mind it, it looks nice but the real question is how the fiberglass will hold up to the extreme heat of your manifold, especially if youre running a tubular which would put it even closer to the hood.

Here is the carbon fiber version hood on Carbonfibertsi's car.

It is the fiberglass version of the VIS G speed hood. After reading a few bad reviews about the fiberglass hood not fitting and being damaged, I have decided to get the VIS carbon fiber version of it.

I wonder if you need hood pins on it since it has all those vents and the big vent in the middle. There shouldn't be that much lift right? Or should I just not risk it and get hood pins??

definitely, without a doubt get hood pins!!!!

also, earlier it was stated that the fiberglass hood is made with vinylester resin and chopped fiber mat....well i use those same ingredients in custom subwoofer boxes. in other words, the stuff does not flex like that. of course there are different types of resin, but it still should not flex like that if its as thick as they say.

Umm ... I'ts a show car, Practicality is of the essence. The hood LOOKS fine to me but I would suggest getting pins too after reading some of the 100 mph hood latch stories.

yeah i like the hood... and they show that picture stating its fiberglass but i bet its urethane because fiberglass really does not flex like that... especially since that light blue color on a fiberglass bumper is gel coat... it just doesnt work like that... i do custom fiberglass installations on cars all the time and that doesnt work like that... i make everything from body kits to full fiberglass interior.. i am actually in the middle of doing my own on my turbo 420A 97 talon (show car with some speed)... ### you know those race cars might look good for a 1/4 mile, but my car looks good the whole way down the street LOL j/k

Maybe it is the duraflex material sold by www.extremedimensions.com and the flexfiber material sold by www.krazykustomz.com.

I got the carbon fiber VIS G Speed hood last weekend and installed it. It hasn't rained yet, I'm curious to see how wet the engine bay gets. Everytime I drive I see heat coming out of the big hood vent.

Future plans include Drift body kit, 97-99 OEM headlights and FMIC.

Here are the hood pics.
