I would stick with the Pioneer one. That is the one we use at work in all of our dealer/demo vehicle's. They prefer it over the Eclipse deck. They said it is just as good quality for less and it is easier to use the functions on it.

How is the picture quality on the eclipse and the pioneer? How much is an Ipod Adapter for the pioneer?

Not sure on the Ipod adapter but the picture quality is nearly identical...very clean and sharp from any angle of the screen. Doesn't fade when you look at it at certain angle's.

Now which Pioneer are we talking about? Avic-N3? And how is the navigation system on the two compare?

they both work pioneer is good quality so is eclipse. 1 might be cheaper bye alot then the other so it all depends on how much you want to spend. i had elipse head units and they were great and i have a pioneer head unit and its great so its really up to you

I can get the AVIC-N2 on Ebay for about 1200 or so and the Eclipse for about 1900 or so. I'll probably go with the N2 eventually. Gotta get my car today first.

I plan on putting a computer in the double din slots, and for the money its a much better deal. You can get a full computer set up in there with a 7 inch touchscreen for about $1500-2000 but what really makes it worthwhile is the fact that you have all your mp3s there without needing an Ipod, you have GPS navigation without needing to put a CD in, you can access the internet anywhere there is WiFi (like starbucks) and the kicker is that you can run DSMlink too! Why spend all that money on a unit that doesn't do half as much stuff?

Does anyone know where the vss pin is becuase im trying to install my navigation and i dont know which pin is the vehicle speed sensor or where its located in the ecu. I have the pioneer avic n2 and im trying to get the gauges on the screen to work.

sounds good i like to hear more about your ideas on this (parts, where to get them, etc.) however, wouldnt your shifter get in the view of the screen if the screen is not going to be the 'motorize' one where it comes out?

YUp carPCs are cheap... i just bought a computer for 30$ to throw in there. The great thing is you dont need a super great computer for it.

You also will need a DC to DC power supply or a power inverter.
Than a VGA Screen (touch screen is better)

you can have a decent carpc for 600. The pricy part is the screen.:thumb:

edit: try going to mp3car.com for more info.

I had a car PC briefly, but I didn't like the slow boot-up time. I prefer the instant on of double din touch screen head units.
Did you set it to hibernate? and how long was the boot up time? Sorry to jack the thread with this question but i am in the process of my carpc and just want to know what im getting into bootime wise ;)

I had it set to hibernate, but it still took about 30-45 sec to boot up. May not mean alot to some people, but I just really prefer to have it turn on as soon as my car does.

does it need a wire to go to the ebrake? if so than cant you just supply it with a constant voltage to that wire (tap into another wire or something).
