I'm looking to get the gauge pod for my 2G that fits in the dash (behind the steering wheel). It advertises it holds (2) 52mm guagues.....

Has anyone ever fit at 60mm gauge in it? or know if it's possible to fit a 60mm gauge?

I want a 60mm peak/hold egt, so if it won't fit, then I won't get it.

Simple math states that theres a 8mm difference between the gauges, and going into more detailed terms that theres a 2mm radius difference if you were to have the gauge lined up with the pod in the exact center. Now 2mm isn't that big of a deal, as you can possibly dremel it out, or it might very well fit depending on the maker of the pod, I personally have never used one of those pods, but another forewarning is that the other dimensions of the gauge (depth, width etc...) might rub on other parts of the pod.

Long story short, just get one that will hold the 60mm and save the trouble LOL.

The only other pods I know for a 2G are the ones on the A pillar, which I don't want..

I know that it might be possible to dremel it out to a 60mm opening, but I wasn't sure about it psyically fitting like you mentioned, hitting other parts...etc....

It wont work. The 60mm gauges wont work in the bezel. One reason is that you cant dremel out the hole big enough to fit it without messing up the bezel, and secondly, the gauge is too deep and will not sit far enough back for it to look right. It would stick out looking like crap.

It wouldn't be a pod, more of a plate but remove your center vents and put it there.I know a few places make those but I'm not sure about fitting a 60mm or 2 5/8 guage in there,as I recall they were for 2 1/16 or 52mm.

You could definitly dremel those out and make it fit.I have an Autometer triple pillar pod and not that you want one but I doubt you could fit it in there anyway.

Do they just not make a 52mm peak hold EGT gauge?

I believe they so and if you already have the gauge then keep looking I saw a bezel pod that held 60mm gauges. I will see if I can find it.

No, I don't have the guage yet. I wish they made a 52mm peak/hold then I wouldn't have an issue.

The EGT is really the only gauge I was planning on getting. I guess I could fab something up or find a place near the radio or vents if it the olny one I'm going to use. I just really liked the looks of the pod behind the wheel and if it would of fit would have bought another gauge to go with it.

Thanks for all the help.

I still have the stock wheel and looking at my dash, they'd honestly be a little hard to see I think with the wheel in the way if they were in that bezel pod.

No way in hell will you fit 60mm gauges in the dash pod. With Greddy gauges you will have to grind away at the factory gauge cluster. I had to cut a half moon shape out of the front edge of the oem cluster because the gauges are 2 1/2 inch deep.

Do you think they won't fit just because of how deep they will be? Or is there not enough room to bore out the opening to fit the 60mm instead of 52mm?

Because I found a 60mm EGT gauge that are suppose but be under 2" deep. So if you think I can cut out the opening to 60mm w/outh going through the side than I don't think I'll have an issue with the depth.

Not sure why everyone is making this out to be such an impossible project. I have 60mm apexi el2 gauges mounted where the above greddy's are, took about 10mins with a dremel to get them to fit. although the apexi gauges are not very deep at all and the gauge face itself is 60mm, the back is significantly smaller (closer to 54mm).

That's what I was looking to hear....thanks.

Are those Apexi a peek and hold gauge?

How do you like the guage / any problems with em?

This is mine ( the A/F guage on the column is no longer there nor is the stock steering wheel )

Accuracy is good. EGT reads in increments of 7 degree's as its uses electric senders. early versions had issues with Sender durability. That is no longer the case with the newer version. I have been running them for over 4 years and the only issue I have had has been 1 backlight which they replaced with a new unit for free, and a few senders dying on me.

Are those 52 or 60 mm?

52mm but I had to do a little cast cleanup with a dremel to get them to fit.

Thanks. I'm going to have to look long & hard at those gauges.

Do you feel they were worth the price? Is there a more affordable source?

Ummm, not to be a penus or anything, but I think you mean a radial difference of 4mm, not 2mm.

Considering they are 2 gauges in one the price isn't too bad.....just I don't need two EGT's or a EGT and Boost.

If they had EGT and Oil temp or pres....

Love the Apexi gauges! I have reverse indiglo gauge faces in the stock cluster (blue numbers, red needles) that match the Apexi's perfectly, yes they are 60mm peak/hold gauges (they are the el2 electronic gauges that require a box $70 to run them, and a harness $8 if running more than 2) Only complaint I can think of is that the steering wheel does block the peak led on the right gauge slightly, but I'm sure you'll be able to adjust yours out with the tilt (mines all the way up, dues to seats and leg space). I'm planning on getting 3 more eventually and dremeling out my a-pillar wount to house them. I'll take pics upon completion. If you do decide to go with them I'd reccomend going through i-m-racing.com, as they have them the cheapest out of all the sites I've seen them on. Any questions or concerns, just reply or shoot me a PM. Good luck and enjoy the "sweeping" feature upon start-up!
