I put in new speakers and new head unit but when i turn it up loud it shuts off. How do i bypass the amp...i tried searching but couldnt find anything

hey all you have to do is cut out the amp under the passenger seat. i di this yesterday to a buddies gst. there is no need to match up the amp wires, cut em and cap em. good luck.

You just unplug the white plug. If you want to use the front tweeters, you'll have to change connectors on them. Do not cut anything.
No, the amp runs all eight speakers.

Oh wow. You should look at the other car audio threads where I responded. Defiant maybe you can find them and merge them all into 1 as these things come on a regular basis.

first of all, when you install a new aftermarket deck, you pretty much automatically disable the stock amp. Notice how the sound field of your car just got inferior because the dash speakers no longer work.

That is because the stock amp has a built in xover which sends the higher fqs to the dash speakers/tweeters.

If you look at the stock deck and amp, you will see 1 fat chord connecting them together. It is a mitsu proprietary 6-pin din cable. Think of that as rcas, remote turn on, etc. think of the stock amp as a 4ch amp, and the stock front speakers components, but the xovers for them are built into the amp.

When you remove your old deck, the 6pin din is no longer in play thus making the stock amp not being used at all. Someone will have to check for me if the amp is still "hot" without the 6pin din. I know the ground for the amp is in the harness thats on the amp, perhaps the power is to. regardless you shouldnt have a problem with the harness connected, but you can remove it if you want.

There is no need to cut em. I wouldn't advice this unless you know for sure you will never sell the car and go back to returning it to stock. Or you plan on going for a full complete setup and use teh stock amp harness are the leads for your new amp powering all the speakers/tweeters.

allwheelTSi.. no the stock amp in the 2g powers all 6 speakers: dash, doors, rears.

97dark_angel, yes there is, by buying a new one. duh. Seriously if you want to imitate the stock setup but with better stuff. You would get a 4 channel amp, and a component speaker set with xovers. Becaue the stock amp has built in xovers, getting a 4 channel amp alone will not mimic the stock setup. Of course you can just get some replacement dash speakers, and run them parallel and hope not to blow them, get bass blocker to be safe, but if you are going to do this, might as well get the component set.
Or if you are speaking of just replacing the stock amp with a better one WHILE keeping the STOCK DECK, then YES you can achieve this too, get the MITAH wiring adapter.

Mitah adapter goes both ways which people don't realize. The most used purpose for it is to buy an aftermarket deck with rca outputs, and using the stock amp to power the speakers still instead of deck power. This can be argued because some will say any standalone amp is better than deck power, but others will argue new deck these days pump out more rms power than the stock amp. So it can go back and forth, there hasnt been real data showing how much the stock deck puts out, but another advantage to this is being to keep the stock dash speakers working xover properly which means having a better sound field.

baz938, so again, you already bypassed the amp, your problem is something else, check your ground connection make sure you got a good one, and that the other wires are not loose.
