I got a few big deep scratches on the side of my car (the guy before me let his wife drive it and scratched it on a CURB) and it's all black now. I would like to know what I could use to get them out. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

It really sucks when you have a nice car and the previous owner did not take really good care of it because they didn't care etc. Anyway if the scratches are deep like you say:mad: then you will probably have to get it repainted. The whole section that is scratched.

Cheapee solution would be to keep buffing it with a buffer, but if it is a deap gouge then there is no paint there and it will have to be repainted (IMO).:dsm:

Thanks for the help JJay. I was planning on getting the whole car repainted but then again I have no JOB. I keep telling myself i want this and that but I have no $$. The car itself has minor scratches here and there and i just want the whole car to be flawless so i might just wait.

Totally understand about the I want to this mod/that mod with no $$$. I had a 1991 Toyota Celica (all riced out:p ) but looked super sweet and I had it since I was 17. The paint job was flawless like showroom new. I got compliments on it all the time. I would park it far away from other cars when I went to the mall or movies, but it was worth it so I would not get scracthes from careless non car lovers. Anyway my Talon is nice work in progress, but it needs so much to make it as cool as my Celica and my cash is $$$ nonexistent. I know what you mean.

there's a color coded wax that comes with a lipstick looking thing available from Turtle Wax, called Color Cure. I've seen it at Walmart, Advanced auto parts, etc. You just buy the color of wax that is similar to your car and use the lipstick thing on the deeper scratches...works wonders, not sure how bad yours are tho. I'd use a buffer with it as well.

I'd try it before you go spend $1k+ for a paint job. Worked beautifully on my friend's car...and the colored wax is helpful too...covers up any smaller scratches if you have them.

the turtle wax stuff works good just heat the stick up in the microwave for a couple seconds or else you cant get it to apply well also what i did was go get touch up paint that matches your car put the lipstick in the scratched to fill it in and then paint over that if you go over the edge of the scratch a little bit the paint will adhere to the factroy paint making the lipstick trapped in the scratch then just buff it really well when its just done drying and you should be alright thats what i do
