How hard is it to just buy the dvd player and the screen separate and wire them up? I want to keep the DVD player in the glovebox and get a in dash screen. Anyone have pics of this? What would be everything I need to buy?

It is not that hard to install a monitor and a dvd player. All the neccessary things u need are usually included in the item. The only thing that u'll probably need is some extra wires to route it to the glove box.

agreed. everything should come with it. otherwise, it's fairly simple to wire the monitor to the dvd player, just a video cable really.

however, you didn't mention what method you'd be using for the audio part of it? usually a strictly DVD player is pre-amp only. so i'm hopeing you have an indash CD player then with an AUXILARY input....

Ah, okay. I'm not sure if my headunit has an AUX input. It's a Pioneer. I'll have to look it up.

does NOT look like it has an AUX input from that description

Great...

So I will have to get a headunit that does have AUX input?

Here's another description..

If you don't want to spend the extra money for the other radio with the auxiliary inputs you can always go to a stereo shop and get a fm modulator. It allows the sound to play through the cars speakers. It will run you about $40.00. I did this to a friends 96 eclipse a couple months back he has had no problems out of it. You will have to tune into a certain radio station to get the sound. I think his was 89.3fm. Hope this helps.

i have a indash pop out and a screen in my airbag. i would not go with the fm mod. cause it messes up your radio reception. i think you can order a input harness for your pioneer headunit. sony is one of the few radios that come with a input. both pioneer and kenwood sell a harness extra.
to answer your question the video is easy. i have used indash dvd players but i use a ps2 now. works fine. with a sony radio the audio is easy too. pm me if you need some help.
