Ok so i installed my stereo and everything works fine but when you turn the tunes up too loud and the headunit cuts out. Then you have to turn the volume down real quick and then the headunit will stay on. Then all of a sudden the headunit pretty much just cut out every 5 sec. so I replaced it and it still does it. how do i fix this? Can anyone on this site tell me how to wire the headunit right to where it doesn't cut out. Also i would like to know where the best place to ground the amp is. All i get is feedback and it sucks the people that made this cars had to have been on something!

I hate to say this, but based on your questions--you really need to have a professional look at your installation.

If you posted here, you're not going to do that, so I'll start the questioning:

Stock or aftermarket amplifier? What is the amplifier amplifying? Why do you question the grounding?

Did you install the stereo? Was a ground installed for the stereo? (The stock stereo grounded through the casing.)

Are you using stock speakers? Were the speakers rewired?

How do you know the head unit is cutting out? Are you sure it's not the amplifier?

"all of a sudden the headunit pretty much just cut out every 5 sec. so I replaced it and it still does it."
'It' is a pretty broad pronoun. Can you rephrase this query?

There are plenty of references to the stereo wiring harness here and on many other dsm websites. They should provide you with all the information you need to wire a stereo.

Please don't insult the people that built our cars. They just did what the union told them to do.:)

A ground can be anywhere, I drilled into the lower cross brace of the car under the trunk carpet, you can go anywhere, but watch out for the tank its right under the seat.

It cuts out because you are playing too loud. Your alternator can not keep up, so the headunit starts leeching from the battery, and then it kills your battery. Plus, there are people outside your car that can hear your music and they probably wouldn't like to.

You replaced it? The cdplayer or the cd?

Stock or aftermarket amplifier?-aftermarket amplifier. What is the amplifier amplifying?-Yes when i had them hook up and no before i had them. Why do you question the grounding?-Cause I just wanted to know where a good place was to ground my amps.

Did you install the stereo?-Yes like 7 times two times when I replaced them five times just to check and make sure it is right. Was a ground installed for the stereo? (The stock stereo grounded through the casing.)?-I Used the stock ground on the stereo.

Are you using stock speakers?-No I have Volfenhag speakers all around. Were the speakers rewired?-No just cut and then I used wire harrness things you get at hardware store.

How do you know the head unit is cutting out?-The music stops and the power turns off. Are you sure it's not the amplifier?-Yes becuase like I said before I didn't have the amp hooked up when I first installed it.

I went to installdr.com so see what to do and I went by what he said but it still doesn't work! If worset comes to worset I am going to buy a headunit at Best Buy and have them put it in!

I have checked all the fuses they are good.

1 add a ground wire.

2 remove wolfie speakers and ensure they are not some wacked out 2 ohm speakers, or that you dont have something wired to 1 ohm.

3 please tell me you are using the rca outs on the head and not the hi levels to the amp.
