to whom ever has removed a dash and painted it or knows anything about this i have a quuestion. Im doing mine tommorrow and i want to know if i should use primer, because if i do i have to get flexible primer because if i dont it wont work on vinyl(i know because i used normal primer on the soft part of my doors and then coated it with vinyl paint and flexible clearcoat, and it dosent stay) But i cant find flexible primer anywhere, and the Plasti-Kote vinyl paint says its sticks to original surfaces. So will i be ok if i just clean it really well, paint it and flexible clearcoat it? Or Do i deffinitly need to use Primer?
Lemme know asap guys cause i have to do it tommorrow, its the only time ive had off in a long time, its going to be warm out, and ima be swamped the next 3 weeks.

Thanks

i used SEM paint, no primer, just this "sand free" stuff they sell that is sort of like primer. its a bonding agent that helps the paint stick. i can push on my dash with no troubles, the paint flexes right along with it. but with the plastikote, i would just sand with a fine grit, then paint. it should be fine i would think.

i will asap, farmdogg is the one who really got the painted interior idea in my head, so Big Up Farmdogg, ill give props were there deserved as well as Originality. As soon as i fix my doors ill post, i just hate puttin pics up when shits half done, real cheesy. Ill take pics as i go along too, for anyone else with ideas of doing the same.

I used that boding agent also. They got that stuff down at Wal-Mart. Kind of weird stuff. It's clear like a clearcoat, but gives the paint something to stick to like glue. no sanding! our project turned out great. that was about 3 years ago.

well its done, what a b@!ch, theres a ton of wire harnesses, and you have to move yer dash in and out at some silly angles. Over all though it went good. The directions i printed off the net were super helpfull, but they explained the dash to be like 10 times heavier than it really is. In and out in 8 hours, mostly dry, still alitlle fragile though. Well let it sit for a while. But thanks for the input guys it turned out good. ill have pics up next week......(yeah right)

i just painted some of my interior pieces red (to match the outside), just small things like the radio surroundings, and the 2 side vents, and i also got red and black floor mats as well as installing a new shift boot that is red and black. It turned out great. pics soon

i was wondering if yone has pictures of their custom interior paint on their dash an trim cuz i wanted to pint mine but i have no idea how. taks for your help

i used primer, and color match paint o my trim.guage bezel. looks awesome. i used a chrysler metallic bright blue. kinda looks like the blue on the valve cover aboveform mavisky. nothin is chipping either, i think cuz i cleaned everyhtign really well, and took my time. don't rush or it will look liek crap.

forgot to add that i also did my interior. rubbed it all down with rubbing alchohol and then layed a smooth primer coat over it. 2 coats of color and 3 coats of clearcoat on top to try and make it last. here's what it looks like now. did it in metallic silver to match the bezels on my autometer guages, all lighting is also red.

I hate them.. but I half way miss mine.. I can't do the heel toe thing anymore... :/

sorry my gf has a dirt driveway and i didn't clean them for you , and the heel toe thing is the only reason i have them.

Mavisky, I think you got one of my favorite interiors so far as for not all out custom, its not outlandish and crazy but just enough to give it a really CLEAN new detailed accented look, Good Job:thumb:

thanks man, feels good to hear that. funny thing is that noone's ever noticed that my driver's side visor is broken off. although the extra headroom it offers i might just leave it off.

I noticed it , but i glanced and it almost looks like a piece of plastic was clipped up there, i guess my eyes were messing with me:laugh: .... No if you keep it off, think of it as a"Weight Reduction" :p

Sorry got so off topic EclipseGS97 I apologize.... anybody else have any pictures of there interiors ?

Everything I did wuz all done by myself, took a long time, but if you have the patience, and the right paint then you can make it look nice. Im happy with my painting. Everything I did, anyone can do. I don't know how to post here, so check my gallery. If you want to know the paint to use, and how to do it just let me know. The Pic wuz done right as it wuz done. I have more done now. And what you can't see is the doors which i have sections like the outer-plastic peice of the vent, and the 7" vent strip painted white too.

It looks as good as you want it to look. Check my gallery to see what I did. If you want your car to look like everyone elses then keep it stock, but if you want to make your car unique, then paint it. Message me if you want to know how to do it. Its hella ez.
