I had a new motor put in my car(92 talonb TSI), and when they did that I had them put in a Air Fuel Ratio gauge (autometer).

My Question: Is there a differce or beter source?

The wire they use to get the signal is tapped into the o2 sensor lead inside the engine compartment.

On vfaq and every other install that I've seen for this they tapped into the unused female end connection down by the passengers kick panel.

Again, Is there a differce or one a beter source?

Thanks

-I tap mine into the VFAQ way, alot less work, might be the shop didn't know of such extra connector behind the kick panel exit.

as long as it is reading the o2 sensor voltage then you are fine.

the best way to get power is from the cigar lighter you can get ground on anypiece of metal that is bolted to the body or frame. I believe this is the best way to get power and ground because you dont take it from the ecu, which could cause problems. I dont know exactly which connector it is (I think the third from botom)....but I know there are three(3) white wires next to each other, the middle white wire is the one to the O2 sensor tap into that to get your signal. When you disconnect the battery wait about 15 min then unplug all 4 connectors to the ecu. Look for the connector with three white wires next to each other. Good luck

PS. if you tap power at the bulb on the cigar lighter the gauge will turn on and off with the lights sparing you of the annoying display(trust me).
