yea so i got the clarion vrx755vd (flip out lcd yada yada...). it works great, but after i save my preset stations and program my bass, treb, etc..., they remain saved while in the car, stay saved for maybe 5 (or less) hrs.. but then when i come back the next day, everything is reset!! this is crazyyy annoying to have to fix all these settings each time im ready to go someplace...does anyone know why this would happen? is there something im forgetting to do to permanently save my settings? thanx for any help guys..

If you turn your car off and take the key out...and then turn it back on again right away, all your settings will still be there? But if it sits off for an extended period of time, it will clear?

hmmm...ill have to check that out...because i think its not....where is a constant power wire at? on vfaq.com it said its the white one by the ignition...is there another one or anyone which is closer? thanx for that heads up!

correct...you think its a wiring prob as stated above?

You can find out pretty easilly which is the constant power with a test light, or better yet a multimeter. If you have it hooked up to a constant power, it seems really wierd why it would choose to not be constant every now and then and cause your deck to clear. Maybe its a fried wire or a bad connection somewhere and it is intermitten that way? You could always run a new wire straight from the battery. Thats what i did on my car. Ran 18 gauge from the battery, soldered in a 15amp fuse and hooked it up. Not a problem to date. If you do this tho, you might want to double check with someone to make sure this wont void your warrenty, or if you need a different fuse. Sounds like a pretty nice deck, wouldn't want to fry it :thumb: Mine was just a POS and I didn't care :)

1.) Always use a harness adapter to install a different stereo in a DSM. They use the same universal wiring color codes as everything else has for fifteen years, now.
2.) DSM radios have no discrete ground wire, and ground through the chassis. Aftermarket radios will require their ground wire be run to the car chassis.

yea its def. no the ground wire, so i think im going to re check he power wire, i think its wrong i think i hooked i up to the accessory wire by accident...thanx guys!

alright i re-did the wiring, i connected the power (yellow wire with the 15A fuse) to a constant power source, and the accessory wire wire is connected to the baby blue wire which is in the jumble of wires in the radio wiring (on vfaq.com this is said to be the accessory wire) but besides thattttt...the memory saves, but if i leave the detatchable face on while the car is off and keys are out, the radio will stay powered on (but wont "work" because there is no power going into the accessory wire) so, my question is, is there a way for everything to save AND be able to not have to detatch the face just for the radio to shut off? it gets annoying taking the face off while im parked in the garage....

Red is the accessory wire, not baby blue.

Nevermind I'm stupid I thought you were talking about the baby blue wire coming out of the deck.
