spyder boot cover [Merged 1-7]

Hi folks,

I have been looking for a boot cover for my spyder on ebay and was just wondering if the 3G cover fits the 2G? Only reason I ask is the 3Gs seem to be more readily available and therefore cheaper, and there is someone on ebay selling one for 96-04 (given he could be way off too).

:S Why would it fit the 96 and not the 95, and why would it fit the 04 and not the 05 (those could be a lil different I guess, I don't know much about 3g's)

Seems to me like he is way off, and no, I don't *think* the 3g ones fit the 2g, but I'm not sure, as I've never even been in a 3g...

95? no 95 Spyder is thats what your refering about.

YES the 3g boot will fit, Mitsu used the same Convert. top from the 2g for the 3g. And the boot is the exact samething

quick question, does any of you fellow spyder owners or anyone for that matter know if the 3G boot cover fits on our 2G, i dont think so, but just wanna make sure cuz i see a bunch of 3G on ebay but dont see any for 2g's, thanks.

Quick questions before I buy one:
-the 03+ fits(it is exactly the same)?
-I heard that it is soft, once it is on if I push down does it bend?
-Does it flap in the wind?

I am not sure if the 03 and up boots fit, because that is a completely different body style and I would guess there had to be some differences. But to answer your other two questions, it will bend a little if pushed down because it is semi-soft, and no it does not flap in the wind. Mitsubishi doesn't go cheap on every part! haha

ive heard rumors that the 3rd gen boots would fit but, have yet to try to fit it on my spyder.

the boot doesnt "flap" in the wind and it does "bend" youll be amazed at how secure those things sit once you put it on.

I don't know. They don't look the same at all. There used to be a lot of 3G boots on ebay but there are't too many of them now, and 2g boots have always been rare.

I have a '98 GS-T Spyder. I've been trying to find a black (or any color for that matter) convertible top boot for my car. How is it that they are so impossible to find. I've searched threw craigs list, ebay, multiple parts site and search engines. I got nothing...Am i looking in the wrong place?

And to answer your question, Yes... You are looking in the wrong places. From the list of places that you say you've looked it seems like you are trying to find the part you need for cheap instead of just finding it period.

If you had every priced them at the dealer, you would know what he was talking about. $600-$700, if I remember correctly.

Iceman_GST, you are looking in exactly the right places, but you may need be diligent for a while. They were not produced after-market so there is only one for every spdyer sold, minus those that have been lost or destroyed.

Thanks wret...you would think there would be a third party manufacturer. But your right, im not about to pay mitsubishi parts dealer prices for a piece of cheap leather. 600 could be invested much better else where.

Ebay advanced search shows one sold a couple weeks ago for $84.99. That's why I say be dilligent. Decide on you max and be prepared to pounce on one when it comes up.
