I'm a big fan of this hood. I just ordered one about a week ago and I've seen one on a show car before. The scoop isn't too flashy but it looks good and also it blends with the body lines on the car perfectly. It's got fully functional ram air and all the duct work is in the hood so it pipes the air right to the intake. It's good for performance and looks. It's my personal favorite. You can get one at http://www.carxpressions.com/ . They cost $695.00 + free shipping and that's important.

since the link on my last post doesn't work, here's the hood.

Thanks for the input guys.

brad98rs, ndilo21 - Yes good call. That is the hood I currently have, and I like it alot. There's a 50% chance I will just get the same one again. I just wanted to see what else was out there before I made the purchase. :thumb:

DGajre777 - That colored carbon fiber looks very nice. However, I forgot to mention that I will be painting the hood red to match my car - even if I get a carbon fiber hood. So paying extra for colored CF is kinda out of the question for me. That is a pretty good price though. Thanks for the link.
EDIT: That ruby red carbon fiber is tits. Definitely a consideration. :thumb:

TheChaos - Do you know anybody that has used this hood before? My only concern with it would be fitment. I was trying to stay away from fiberglass simply because I don't want to incur any fitment problems. Some fiberglass manufacturers are known for good fitment and some aren't - that why I was wondering if anyone you know has direct experience with this hood......

The Chaos - PLEASE post some pics after you get the hood, that looks sexy :thumb:
I've seen that hood before, BUT I didn't know that it has functional ram air.. nice :D Definately my favorite hood for the 2G :thumb:

99gst_racer - You could wait till 'the chaos' gets the hood and puts it on his car to find out about the fitment. If he ordered it a week ago, he should have it in the next few days.

Sorry about your windshield, maybe you should invest in some hood pins :sneaky:

I know you already decided, but I got to stick my .02 in here! LOL!

The Aerogear Predator hood is by far the best looking hood for the 2g. Alas, it only fits the N/T. You can buy it at that Nopi link somebody else gave. If you want to see it on a car (I HIGHLY SUGGEST IT!) click on this link

That is my favorite *looking* Eclipse of all time! :thumb:

I have to order mine within the next few days..... I'm on a tight schedule here. :sneaky:

Yeah, $hit happens.... That's what full coverage is for. :rocks: I actually do have hood pins and I've used them everyday for the past 2 years..... except for yesterday. We did a few things under the hood and we left in a hurry to get to a WMDSM meet. We failed to use the pins (and I think even the latch :shhh: ) :coy: . It sucks, but worse things have happened. The car is allready in the body shop. :thumb:

did import fan ever finalize their wanna be supra hood? (i dont know why everyone wants to make 2g's supras) but the hood is decent, i actually kinda like it. the trd3000. i would rock it, it would be way more practical on a turbo eclipse. the only other hoods i would get would be OEM, and the invader style. other than that there arent any other hoods i like

It is on a 3g, but you can see the hood...

Thats a nice hood! Too bad they don't make it in fiberglass. It doesn't make sense to pay for the carbon fiber hood just to paint it to match the car. :coy: Carbon fiber hoods might look good on black cars, but on any other car I THINK they look like crap. Reminds me of someone driving a car with primer on a hood that was picked up from the junk yard (No offence to all you carbon fiber people out there).

I think you can find it in fiberglass if you search around a little. You can also paint the CF hoods. I like look of the CF hoods with a nice design painted on!

You would do better to purchase a hood that has a vent, rather than an intake.

Better for aerodynamics and engine bay cooling.

Kinda like what I already have, right?

Exactly. That should work well.

If you have some free time, tape some yarn on the vents and see which way the air goes.

Same hood I have VIS Racing GT. It works very well...Heat Rises and the vents allow more heat to escape the engine bay. I'm not saying it allows a whole bunch but it let some out and leet if your driving fast enough the yarn will show the air escaping through the vent...LOL..o wait never mind :p

Paul!!! Stay away from the invader hood, It only flows with certain cars. I have seen this on a 2g in person and It just doesnt flow. When you see pictures of it, its always from the front of the hood and not the side. They do that for a reason. The DSM below looks decent with the hood but I really cant see it on your car. :thumb: :talon:

HOW is a vented hood better of aerodynamics?? Vent = 'form drag', due to the vent sticking out of the hood instead of a smooth hood surface AND the air coming out of the bay will collide with the air flowing over the hood to cause 'eddies' which will cause 'interference drag'. Both are parasite drag, which is bad for airflow and bad in aerodynamic design. :nono: They are good for engine bay cooling though. I agree on that one. :thumb:

Another thing, wouldn't a hood with an intake, provide more flow to the intake filter and hence increase horsepower? Or is the horsepower increase so small that it is not even noticable with the ram air hood? anyone know?

Bigglesworth87 - I'll try to find a side pic of the invader hood to see what you are talking about.

That's MacGyver. OMG

Bigglesworth87 - I agree. I like the invader hood; just not on a DSM. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to get the Xtreme GT hood again. (PS - happy belated birthday! :rocks: )

igopoopy - Do you have any pics of that silver 2G with the unique vented hood?
