Hey everyone, I have been lurking here for a little while now, and the first problem with my dsm has arrived. Right now, regardless of any other conditions, when ever I open the doors to my car, the interior lights do not come on at all. When ever I use the stock remote entry to unlock the doors/lock the doors, the lights flash on/off inside no problem, all the lights work and everything else, just that when ever I open the doors, the lights either turn off, or dont turn on. Im not sure where I should check to fix this, would it be a fuse or what? Thanks

Check the door switches. Usually one door switch will fail but the other door works.
It will be under the black boot in the rear door frame. You can clean it but that's only a temp fix, it will corrode up again. They are relatively cheap from the dealer. <$10

You don't have the dome light switched to off do you? Just a simple idea that may have been overlooked.

Heh, no dome light switch, dont have a dome light! Moonroof for the win! LOL. I will try and check the door switches later tonight, what would be the recommended way to do that, just wipe them off? Take off the black boot thingy on it? What should I look for that would indicate it not working? Sticking in a specific direction or what. TIA

Btw. polyurathane bumpers are the best, accidently went over a ditch tonight and the front end dropped bad, bent the bumper up, got the car towed out, and pressed the dents out, and walaa, a good as new bumper! heh :dsm:

You take the black boot off and you see that it's held in by a single phillips screw.
The switches have two contacts and it grounds them when it's extended (door open).

Once you take out the switch put a multimeter on the wiring harness that is connected to the car, and not the switch itself. You should get a reading. If you don't the switch isn't your problem.

On a separate note which i dont recommend, you can probably take a test wire and connect the two terminals on the wiring harness(the one not on the switch). The lights *should* turn on inside when that is done.

Had the same problem before too. When you open the door, look on your gauge cluster to see if the door ajar light is coming on, if not its the black little plug that everyone is talking about. I just unscrewed mine, dabbed some 3-in-1 oil, and put it back together. They've been ok for over a year. Replacement cost is cheap as well.

Thank's for the info i will try this solution tm mine is doing the same thing.:hellyeah:
