I bought my car with an after market head unit, a Pioneer. From what i can tell it was installed right. When i turn the volume up, the speakers cut out. Theres a small pop noise and all the speakers go silent. The head unit keeps playing the cd or radio like nothing is wrong. All i have to do is turn the head unit on and off again and they start playing like nothing happend. Im not sure if its power related or what, different songs cut out at different volume levels, equalizer settings also effect it. It tends to cut out anytime the volume is just too loud or when a deep bass hits. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Its very annoying, especially since the music isnt even that loud when it happens. I did a search and i couldnt find anything on this.

that happend to me before. A lot of things could be the problem of this happening. It could be that the speakers are bad, or there is a wire somewhere that is touching. Check your speaker wires. And if you can't find out what the problem is, then it can be your cd player. I'd take the CD player out, and connect the red/yellow to a spare battery (positive) and the black wire to the (negative) of the battery. Then get an extra speaker you have laying around, and connect that to ANY speaker wires and test it from there. If it cranks up without popping, then the cd player is still good. But if it does it only to the car speakers, then those speakers are bad.

Hope that helps. :)

internal amp in the cd player probably going bad...one day it just wont play anything at all....
