Toronto,
I got my 97 GSX last week, the interior is tan leather (Creamy color) with same color side and backboards and front dash is black. The thing is the leather on sits is very worn out (drivers especially) and the boards look like crap now. Not sure if I can clean them so they look like new or something.

But I was thinking of getting black dashboards and doors and everything else including the trunk. So I am wondering is there a place where I can order these things and maybe even 2 front sits. I was thinking Mitsubishi dealership but I am in Canada and this car never been sold here and even if they had them they prob will charge me half the price of the car for them.

Plan to change to black

Door Panels
Rear panels
Trunk panels
All the pillar panels
And maybe sits or just go to a shop and get new leather on them

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cant help too much but ive been looking for black leather seats for a while now and cant find them....i tried the dealer and they dont havem....said they dont make them anymore or soemthing.....try the classfields or dsmtrader....junkyards. :coy: Not much help but dealer prob wont help....at least inmy experience..... :thumb:

If you just want them to be black and look stock you can just get some flat black paint and paint all the panels. Just be sure to clean them really well first to remove any oily residue. I'd suggest going to Napa or a similar place and getting something called "Plastic Prep" to clean and prep the panels.

For the vinyl some people have also had luck painting it with a vinyl spray paint from auto parts stores but I have never tried it so I cannot vouch for it personally.

Hmm sounds interesting but I am not sure if you paint it black it would actually look STOCK black plastic… Maybe I should just clean my current panels so they look like new… is that even possible? And go to custom shop and change leather on two front sits to new one… (Back one is fine as no one ever sits there). I like the tan look of it but if it’s that hard to find the black parts I might as well stay with this one and clean the hell out of it. But I do need black stock panel on the drivers’ side (where the window and lock controls are) as it’s kind of chipped at curtain spot.

Thx for the replies guys

If it is done right and with the right paint it would look factory but it's all up to you and if you have never done anything like that before you might not want to try it. If you search I'm sure you can find some threads of people who have painted their interiors flat black with success. I know I've seen several posts about it before.

I do agree with the changing of the vinyl by a professional shop though. I think if I were to want to change the vinyl color and keep it vinyl there I would just get an upholstry shop to do it rather than trying to paint it.

you can get the black dye and dye all the panels and such, gotta take them out of the car though.

you can get the seats reupholstered in black leather, itll cost a bit but itll be worth it.

tan and black is just a color combo that should have never seen its way into cars interiors.

Hmmm a dye... who should i go to buy it or maybe some shop should do it for me? Taking panels out of the car is no problem, because i will be installing gauges wires and speakers newayz so inside will be disassembled but I have no idea where to go to get a dye or even HOW to get it done  but very good suggestions! Thank you guys

as long as u paint the door panels with vinyl paint it will look just like they came from the factory with it black. i just did just the vinyl on my door panels black a couple weeks ago and left the bottom tan. it turned out great and it looks as factory as the tan did.

Do you guys suggest using flat black or glossy black? That was my dilemma today at the auto store. I'm dying my tan leather black this weekend, and soon all my panels. Is glossy gonna be to shiney? I'll be sure to post pics of how my seats turn out!
