I bought an inverter to charge laptops, cam batteries, etc and it says not to plug in a power strip into it. It would seem that as long as all the devices on the strip werent close to the max watts, it would be fine. Am I missing something?

Yeah - amperage. The wattage isn't so important. What blows fuses, fries electronic components, and KILLS PEOPLE ( :D ) is amperage.
The problem you're gonna run into is when you plug multiple devices in it's going to pull more amps than the unit can handle and it's gonna pop a fuse (or worse).

Youll fry the inverter.

HOWEVER, there are extremly expensive (and bulky) industral inverters you could install in your ohhh, say the trunk, if you needed to power your XBOX, Blender, corded drill, and massage chair at the same time out of your car for some bizzare reason.

well, if you ask me the reason they dont want you to put a plug strip on the converter is so you don't over load it. and just for $hiT$ and giggles watts is derived fron amps so therefore watts can kill ya too. :D (i know I am an electrican) and just in case you dont beleive me theres the formula to get watts W=I*V w=Watts I=Amps V=Volts and for amps I=w/v or I=v/r r= resistance. so as long as you dont exceed the watts on the inverter you cool.

hope this helps

Yeah, thats why I thought they said not to use a strip. As long as all the devices on the strip dont add up to be more than the output, it should be fine I would think....I just wanted to know if there was something else about power strips I didnt know that wouldnt be compatible with an inverter...
