hey i was just wondering what carbon fiber pieces are available for the 90 91 dsm? I looked around and found a hood but thats about it. What other ways are there to lighten it also other than carbon fiber body stuff and taking out the back seat? I wanna try lightening my car as much as I can so i wanted to check with you guys. Ok thanks for your time. :)

You saw a Carbon fiber hood for the 90-91? I've never seen one for the cars with flip ups. To awnser your question, obviously gutting the interior be removing all panels, carpeting and scraping the sound deadening from the floor. Remove the power steering, a/c pumps and accessories. You could take out the power window motors and go manual, but thats pretty extreme. Lighter weight wheels. But if Shep can run in the 8's with virtually a full interior all of that work isn't really neccessary.

I searched and I couldn't find anything besides the hoods... By the way Zero Bar, andysautosport.com has 4 carbon hoods for the 90 - 91 eclipse. http://www.andysautosport.com/produ...Mitsubishi&mcat=Hoods&scat=Carbon Fiber Hoods
But anyways.. like he said, just remove the things you don't need. I hear you only get like a tenth quicker in the 1/4 for every 100lbs you shed. Maybe a little more for fwd's that remove weight behind the pulling wheels.

Yeah, I'm in the middle of stripping the back half of my 91 as well... Everything is out and I'm about 1/2 way done with removing all of the sound deadening material. I've shed a lot of weight so far, and from the front seats, it still looks 100% normal. I'll take pics after I get the rest out and spray it all... It's actually going to look good for a basically stripped car..

Here's a link to some cf pop-up lids and his hoods... Quality is top-notch.
Do a search, there's a few guys on here with them. Kevin90GSX (kevins90gsx.com) has them...

Hood, hatch and the also have CF covers to go over the flip up lights to match the hood.

when you get to removing 300-500 pounds though, that makes a HUGE difference, and it doesn't cost you a dime! can't beat the power/$$ ratio there !! :thumb:

(and i know less weight doesn't mean more power, but i couldn't think of a better way to say "Lower E.T./$$ ratio". you get the point)

True... but say goodbye to "comfortable driving" with that much weight gone. It's ok for a track car, but it would be murder on the street. Especially for long drives. (no carpet, sound dead, interior panels, ac, etc.) I removed everything behind the front seats and I'm already aggrivated with it. Exhaust is too loud, rocks sound like gunshots on the metal, and when it rains it sounds like it's comming down in the hatch LOL. I couldn't imagine it any worse.

Thanx for the info on the hoods. I can attest also that's it's not that great having a gutted interior, at least on a daily driver. It's loud!

yea i think i will just leave the talon, the crx tho im going to gut like hell, ima try to get it to 1000 lbs, its a strictly drag car so i dont care about what its like driving it, but my beautiful talon, i dont wanna do anything to it that would make driving it less enjoyable :thumb:
