I know most of you are thinking, how ricey can it get. But hey, it is PIAA and I was thinking at the very least I'd be getting a well made product. By the description, I was expecting something high pitched and shrill like a Ferrari or Lamborghini. The opening car chase scene from Goldeneye, and the Ferrari scene in Bad Boys II flashed through my brain. But alas, it was not to be. It (they, there are two horns) basically sound like two DSM horns. Nothing especially different about the tone or anything. A waste of money.

should have gotten Hella
Enlighten me. How do they sound? Got a clip?

EDIT: NM, I just found them on their site. A couple of them look like they have the same frequencies as the PIAAs. I'll check. But the really big triple trumpet thing looks too crazy. I didn't want to sound like a calliope or ice cream truck, just different.

Thanks. The FIAMM site actually has sound clips. And I realize now that you have to have a trumpet to achieve the higher pitches. I have a 400/500hz combo now. Perhaps the Hella dual trumpet 795/840hz combo will do the trick. We have a '90 Porsche on our lot that is close to what I'm looking for, but I might just have to bite the bullet and call a Ferrari or Lambo dealer and find out how much their OEM horns cost. The only problem is finding a place for the trumpets to fit.

EDIT: Hell, no wonder it was such a let down. My car (our car's?) came with a FIAMM AM80 stock.

I don't know the model, but I put a set of FIAMMs off a FIAT on my motorcycle. On the way to the Bay Bridge toll plaza, some brainless Pinto thought it was going to use my lane while I was.

The horns blew her across two lanes. And I'm sure she peed. :D

Or you can opt for the PA/CB combo. You can be loud and tellt hem what you think of their crappy driving.

i always wanted one of those train horns or the aaaaauuuuuuugggaaah horns that are on trucks. so when you hit the horn people think its some huge ass truck and this little eclipse drives by.

I've ordered a triple trumpet set from FIAMM that are called Riviera's. From my search and reviews they are supposedly the ones who make OEM Ferrari horns. The sound is just about exactly what I'm looking for, but I'm sure they reserve the specific tone quality for Ferrari. A few people were complaining about the longevity of the product, so maybe the OEM horns are better quality too - I'll see.

Some guys in Miami actually put train horns on their trucks. Apparently a legit/authentic train horn(s) would run about $2000. The locals hate it because you can imagine the imapct that has when this guy rolls by a crowded club or quiet neighborhood and blasts pedestrians with it. They are working on changing the laws so they can give the jerk a bigger then $70 noise ordincance ticket when they catch him. All non OEM horns will probably get banned because of this.

A set of 12" Grover Stutter Tones would work nice, and you wouldn't have to worry about people not hearing you. I've seen kits that include a small air compressor, the trumpets, and all of the lines/wiring go for about $400ish.

Ha, no - again, I'm not trying to give anybody a stroke - just startle them if they invade my lane. So nothing extremely loud will work, and I don't want to sound like a semi or barge. My city is full of rednecks in jacked up pickups and yuppie beotches yapping mindlessly on cell phones while drifting around in their Landcrushers, 'Burbans and such who make me nervous. They don't tend to notice a lowered DSM, or don't care. I paid $15 on ebay for the FIAMM's. I think they will do the trick. If not I'll get an OEM set from a Ferrari.

Someone told me Momo makes a horn...anyone know if its good or not?
They market a line, but I don't know if it's their manufacture or just a sticker over the FIAMM.

Air horns ain't china. There's almost nothing to them- the "compressor" is a bone-simple fiber-vaned positive-displacement air pump, the "horns" are a metal diaphragm tensioned over the air outlets (as opposed to electric horns, which have the diaphragm moved by a buzzer mechanism) and a couple of trumpets stuck on.
